Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Oh, Sean, step away from those ignorant people posting on the internets! I don't want you to have to search under the sofa when your eyes roll out of your head.

If only I could order a bunch of them without actually sending any money to Chick Publications. I miss reading them in paper form (I used to be able to find them every now and then in Ann Arbor).

And they're SO OVER THE TOP. They're like the Weekly World News. I have the hardest time believing anyone anywhere reads them for anything other than amusement, but part of me knows/dreads there's actually a LOT of people who read them (or the Weekly World News) and takes it seriously.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Hey, hey, hey. Let's not knock the paper. /so I married an axe murderer.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

And they're SO OVER THE TOP. They're like the Weekly World News.

Except that the WWN staff have admitted publicly publically in public that they're knowingly making up the most crack-addled whackaloon tales of madeupness that were ever made up, whereas, so far as I know, the Chick Tracts people are serious.

OTOH, if they really are like the WWN, I am in awe of their ability to do it with a straight face for so long. Their conspiracy of silence is right up there with the Nessie photo hoaxers.

The next time someone hands me one, do you want me to save it for you? (Admittedly this doesn't happen very often any more, but every now and again ...)

I need to remember to order more of the wacky Pagan versions of the Chick tracts. Dad swiped my last set of them. [link]

Yes, please.

Now tagless for your comfort.

It's nice how I'm giving Sean advice while I'm reading Imperial Life in the Emerald City about Iraq. That's making my head 'splodey, too. I really should learn.

I get lots of enjoyment out of the WWN. I love the "50lb baby born" or "Baby born with 16 toes!" and the chronicles of Bat Boy.

Because books.

Jilli, I don't know what you decided, but I adore that outfit. (Except, possibly, the rectangular panel on the front, which as Plei said might look strange depending on the figure of the woman wearing it.) It's gorgeous, and it should be yours!

What on earth are Chick Tracts? I've never heard of them. Do I want to know?

Also, it seems that I am gainfully employed as of a week from today. Wheee.

brillig

I so want to work for the Weekly World News. Just imagining their office gives me great joy. "Isn't it time for the Amazing Bat Boy to show up again?" "I think we sent him off to Iraq last time. Archives!"

edit: "It's my turn to wear the Alien costume for the election photograph!" "You're too fat! It's my turn!"
