I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad. It's... depressing.

Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Because books.

I can't believe Owen is three and Lily is going to be two. And Ellie is growing up, too! I remember when all of you were pregnant and the babies were still limp little mewling kittens.

I honestly can't believe Matilda is as old as she is. In my head, JZ is still pregnant, I swear.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Have you thought about giving her a juice pop (popsicle) when she's teething? It's like dessert, only not, and nice and cold which soothes the teething. It might tempt her away from the breast.

I've thought about it. She doesn't seem to like cold things near her mouth, though, and it doesn't help at night, which is our real sticking point. (During the day, I can distract her.)

Weekdays, we're down to two evening sessions and one or two morning sessions (depending on if she wakes up at 4am or not). So that's not so bad. But I'd like to get rid of a couple of those and be down to one quick session by June or something.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Not only do I have no toddler-weaning secrets, Plei, I want to know your secret: Is Lillian such an unearthly perfect child that she has somehow never, ever bitten you until you shoot right out of your skin? Or do you have titanium nipples? Because I love the idea of bf'ing for at least a full year, due to a dodgy family history and the health benefits you mention, but if Matilda's like this with only two little nubbins of teeth there's no way it's happening when she has a whole mouthful.

I'm stubborn and don't know what's good for me? Plus physical pain = better than dealing with lectures from my mother on how SHE managed it with ALL THREE of us until AT LEAST 18 months, and just "blah blah blah blah blah like I did when you kids bit." Because pain goes away long before lectures.

I think I did the push-face-in, firm NO method of dealing with biting. Also, remember that Lillian hated bottles with a passion, only accepting them grudgingly once she started daycare, and then only after about a week of afternoon hunger strikes. And that she had uppers and lowers long before she was ready for solids.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

For juliana and Jilli [link]

CUTE.

got whassisface of the steroid controversy.

Bonds is on the Giants.

HEY NOW. Leave Barry alone. And send Swisher my way. Or Street. I'm not picky, though I have apparently turned into a cougar.

I was totally thinking about doing that a la Faith to juliana while she's at work.

HEE! If it's at the second job, I totally have a window to clamber out of, too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OWEN!!!!! Treat your mommy right, mmmmkay?

Pretty much. Guess who came home today? Guess who is currently making herself at home in our apartment?

YAY!!!

Good lord, my boobs are aching in sympathy with all the BFers. Ouch.

What is even happening?

One of the ouchier baby-tortures-mother story might be when Lillian stuck her finger up Plei's nose.

I've thought about it. She doesn't seem to like cold things near her mouth, though, and it doesn't help at night, which is our real sticking point. (During the day, I can distract her.)

If you get a break in her teething between now and then, maybe you could encourage her toward child-led weaning during that break? It would be mother-manipulated child-led weaning though, I suppose.

eta...

flea! I think maybe flea had to wean Casper when she got pregnant with Dillo. You might want to shoot her an e to see how she did it. I think your nursing philosophies might be fairly similar.

Our wings are not tired.

So... anyone here weaned a toddler?

I weaned Brendon at 2 because I was pregnant and the idiot doctor told me I needed to stop. Then the next visit a different doctor told me otherwise. I was very unhappy as neither of us were ready to stop. (We did get serious looks since the child was so huge) Bobby got bored at 15 months.

One of my friend's grandmother told me that she nursed all her children until they went to school. (She was Indian)

I did get bit, but I used the firm puppy No! It might have helped that they didn't get teeth until 18 months. The whole breastfeeding thing really suited the lazy in me. They went from boob to cup. We didn't do bottles.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's raining in San Francisco but it's happy times in Bitches.

Happy birthday, Owen! You are one handsome little dude.

Happy almost birthday, Lillian! Try not to destroy your parents while you sort out your 2s.

Welcome home, Biyi!

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Happy Birthday, Owen!

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Yay for the reunited Teas.

Good to see you, vw.

I went to the doctor this morning and came back to find a GIANT HOLE in my front yard. There's a broken pipe.
