Catching up from a billion posts behind (AKA "Thursday afternoon"):
I do not have any making out with Kristin pictures, because I got a migraine and did not go out dancing with her. Nor do I have any new haircut pictures, because I've been home for all of about one waking hour in the past week and a half. I am currently in Minneapolis.
The haircut, she took a lot of hair off without taking much length off. I like the idea (though when she described it, it made no sense to me), but the reality is not necessarily my favorite (I think the razoring made the ends all frizzy). Am working on experiments with product. Travels making this harder.
I want to have a pretty pretty wedding one day. Probably a small ceremony and a big party. My boss got married in Italy last summer with about 30 friends and family, and it was *gorgeous*--and then she had a great fun big party in October, so she got to wear the dress again! Though definitely not happening with the current girl, even if she is long term--she's been married THREE TIMES already, so no more weddings for her.
I'm going to owe the Feds over $800. Which is funny, because I don't SEEM TO MAKE ANY DAMN MONEY. What. the. hell.
Get someone to double-check just in case, Ailleann! I think the first year I did taxes I messed it all up and paid $600 I probably didn't owe.
is it polite/appropriate to ask someone you just met (and might consider dating) what they do for a living? Or what college they went to?
Ask that all the time. Though occasionally might not ask the college question if there's a chance the person hasn't gone/didn't complete/might be embarassed. The "what do you do", it's basic stuff! Sure, the answer of "I'm a lawyer" might give you a salary idea, but not if they turn out to be a public defender! I suppose depending on how you meet someone, you might not ask it right away if there are other conversation topics, but...it's pretty standard first-date fare!
first person into Jonestown in the aftermath. He said the smell will stay with him always. (He was also one of the Iranian hostages; clearly the target of a Chinese curse).
Whoah, no kidding! We had a principal in high school whose name was Jim Jones. He went by "Mike", and we always wondered if that was why...
Welcome, Sox! Am wondering if you are the sparkyrelation I met at brunch, who ended up with cool shoes.
That Jonestown documentary was something. I always knew the story - the outlines of it anyway - but I don't think I'd ever grasped the militarization and the level of coercion. Or, OTOH, the apparent integration - racial, age, etc. I think that's part of what affected me so much, seeing how wrong it all went.
Sox has cool shoes?
I find this idea very amusing. I have also been drinking all afternoon. The math is left to the reader as an exercise.
Also, welcome, Sox.
Also also, from my experience, closet space makes a big difference to quality of life, though I'm coming at it from comparing "none" to "some" rather than "not much" to "a decent amount". The second place sounds good, sj, though I can see where 2nd floor could be problematic. No elevator, I take it?
You know what's weird? When you can see locked lj posts on your friends list at one point and then you go back to respond to a comment and...nope, not allowed. If you're irked at someone, block them on the first go-round, you know?
This has just not been my week and it's only Tuesday.
Tonight I made a new recipe -- Lemon Asparagus Pasta. I didn't have enough lemon peel and so it's not lemony enough. But that's okay. Except when I went to turnoff the heat I turned it UP. and got distracted by American Idol and when I realized this my pasta was scrambled. It had eggs and milk and part of the pasta is burned to the bottom.
I think it's still edible, but so frustrating.

Ugh. Someone blocked you?
The very low-key birthday party went well. I'm exhausted though.
I still need to work up our municipal taxes. I should do that tonight to get it over with. I'm paralyzed by not caring very much.
Oh, that's too bad that it got scrambled, askye. Sounds pretty yummy, regardless. Lemon and asparagus is pretty much a good combination.
Apparently. Which, you know, fine. But
after
I've commented? And not a "oops, meant to friends-lock this" - it already was. What-ev.

We're doing our taxes April 14. April fricking 14.
I can't believe Owen turns 3, tomorrow. It's inconceivable to me. I remember when you were like a day late for your period.
