'Get It Done'

Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

clovis plus Em equals way too cute.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

NOT caught up on the homework, but on the upside prepared for all my classes tomorrow, with the daily Mad Minute stuff already copied and the New Notetaking System explained and in place. These are both new daily routines I'm introducing this week.

Unfortunately, about half my students will be gone on a field trip tomorrow, and Wednesday we're running the state test schedule for the first time, so I'll only have 2 of my classes. AND another half my kids will be out for another field trip. Sigh.

Was at school till 8, which I'm so OVER. But all the copies for tomorrow are made, so maybe tomorrow I'll actually manage to do the things I really NEEDED to get done today (call HR and confront the principal about writing me a letter of, if not recommendation, at least no-disciplinary-action). Also, cancel hair-color appointment, mail please-please-cut-me-some-slack letters to loan company, finish up my own recommendation letter (thanks, Vortex!) and meet with my coach. Did I forget anything? Oh, right, I might attempt to teach at some point.

Heh. Just kidding. I never do that. Ooh, and we have an assembly tomorrow!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I'm sorry, sj! I have to wait another week or two before I get to try my first round of ADHD meds, but I'm hoping I have as much success as you've been having with yours.

Thanks, Kristin! I think I need to talk to my doctor about the extended release version of my meds, because a 6 hour window of productivity isn't working as well for me as I would like. Good luck to you.

The status is NOT quo.

I forgot to add that I think my accountant is taunting me. She emailed to let me know that she sent my tax stuff overnight express so I could sign it and send it off, but she didn't tell me if I am getting a refund or owe money! Now I'm fretting.

Oh, and my back is achy and owey and is making me want to bite things.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

ChiKat, I am madly jealous of you.

I have class tomorrow after teaching, so I have to have my homework done. I just had a ton to do for this week. And, for grading, our quarter ends on Friday and I have to plug in grades on Thursday. So, I needed to be caught up on grading. It feels really good, though.

Oh! And, I have lesson plans for 1 prep for the next 2 weeks which will finish me out of that class and lesson plans for 1 week for the other prep. I'm teaching that one up to the day I leave, though. Student teaching is done in 3 weeks. Wooty goodness!

Now, I need a job. Crap.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

That's not real, right? They aren't *that* tone deaf, are they?

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Ok. I am completely and utterly disturbed now.

Being only 4 when Jonestown happened, I have no recollection of ever having heard of Jonestown. In fact, when I read Further Tales of the City , I had to ask Joe what Jonestown was. I thought it more akin to Heaven's Gate; A couple dozen people, wacky cult, choice.

I watch The American Experience every Monday and last Monday I was like, "Ooh! Neat! Cult!" when they previewed Jonestown for today.

I had no earthly idea about any of it. None. And now, after pulling Em out of her sleep and hugging her so tight, I am sitting here crying for those people.

I had no idea.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I had no idea.

Huh. I worked with a guy who was on one of the jury trials related to the case. Obviously it's a big deal here, as it was San Francisco based and the mass suicide happened the same week as the Moscone/Milk assasinations. Dark times for San Francisco.

But the freaky part is how fully entrenched Jones was into the SF power structure, and how idealistic the group was in its inception.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

And see? I had no idea about that, either. When I read FTotC, I thought to myself, "Why would he go to San Francisco?"

For Joe, the freakiest part of the show was one of the survivors saying, "We tried. Yeah it ended tragically, but dammit, we tried."
