considering it's supposed to be 33F tomorrow morning. It's Flordia! it's not supposed to be that cold in April!
We're at 38 tonight, and supposed to be 48 tomorrow. [link] Granted, there's an 80% chance of rain, but the most I will concede is tights. I'm wearing my Easter dress if it kills me. Although, I wore it for Easter Vigil tonight, and it didn't kill me then, so I think the odds of death are fairly low.
I'm watching The Sound of Music. I think the last time I watched this was when I was about 10. "Sixteen Going On Seventeen" was much coyer than I remembered. Just about everything else is way cheesier than I remembered. But still fun.
Did you boo the Nazis and hiss the Baroness? Did you manage
not
to sing along? I find it almost a physical impossibility. Especially since going to watch the SingalongaSoundofMusic. (And, incidentally, there SO need to be lots of these things.
My Fair Lady, The King and I, Funny Girl
and just ALL the musicals that I grew up on should definitely be having audience participation Singalongs Right Now. And there should be Audience Participation 'Star Wars' and 'Superman' showings too. Yes. For people who are not students any more.)
Um.
Incidentally, Hil, your soup sounds
delicious.
Yummy like a yummy thing.
I am very jealous of Scolapalooza. And also of
Sports Night.
OTOH, ever since my most excellent Geek Coworker obtained an extra hard drive for me and loaded it up with comics and some TV, I have been mainlining all the comics in the world, so that's good. I'd like to be mainlining
Sports Night
also, but one can't have everything.
I have to agree that DC
does
largely kick Marvel's ass after all. When I was a kid I was pro-Spidey because of the wisecracking - and I still like Spidey (and indeed Daredevil, and X Men - and, OMG, Joss made me HOWL with laughter several times in his
Astonishing X Men
stories - holy crap, he brings some funny to Logan - although equally it made me really sad that he didn't write and/or direct X3)...but, yeah - I'm liking the whole fucked up Batverse a lot right now. Just bought
Nightwing: Year One
(feeling guilty at reading all these books and not paying for them, you see) and read it over a dinner of gyoza dumplings and DairyQueen blizzard. Top banana.
I am mostly loving on the Vertigo titles, though. So no change there. Especially
Fables,
which I've never read before. Fabulous. Fabulous. Fabulous. I heart Bigby. Obviously.
Suzi, you totally need to watch
Eragon
all the way through. But preferably you need to watch it with a slasher. I have rarely enjoyed a cinematic experience more than I enjoyed watching
Eragon
with SA. Funniest shit EVAH. So funny. So bad. So very very bad. But such fabulous fun if you're slashing and taking the piss out of the cliches. (I mean, come on, he starts out with all the manly wrestling with his brother, which had SA all OMGIncest, and then it turned out that they are actually InConclusionCousins...and then there's all the business with ObiWanKaGandalf, and then there's his little Pouty HanSoloBoyfriend....oh, man. This is a very funny movie. Very very funny.)
Um. But
The Sound of Music
is, of course, FABulous. Yes.
A friend of mine sent me an Easter package that included a jar of lemon curd. Is that like jam? And used the same way?
Lemon curd is made a little differently than jam, with egg yolks, I think. It can be used like jam or as the lemon part of a lemon meringue pie. My favorite way to eat it is on shortbread.
Can I just spread it? Or do I have to cook it?
Just spread. It's already cooked.
Lemon curd on crumpets or English muffins is teh yum!
I need a new work bag. I hate everything sold as a "woman's briefcase." Bags I like tend to cost over $200. So I'm looking at a Timbuk2...what makes Timbuk2 so well-beloved?
Raq, since I need one too, your post made me take a quick look. I kinda like this one.
Especially Fables, which I've never read before. Fabulous. Fabulous. Fabulous. I heart Bigby. Obviously.
Ooh, I just sat and read through vols 4-8 of Fables last Thursday! So fun.
