I vascilated between doing just enough on certain subjects to get the necessary (as in what would keep my parents at bay) grades, and others I obsessed over. The former (mostly math and the math-ier sciences like physics) I had an innate ability for and got really good grades without trying (I used to do the homework for those while also watching TV). The latter (literature and writing) I didn't want to put the time to polish as I was big on the myth of inspiration. Given the era and some of the teachers I had, enthusiasm trumped correctness a LOT in terms of the grades I got, so I did well scholastically there too.
There was also a third area that I think of as language-y disciplines (foreign languages and the sciences like biology and chemistry that dealt in language-y terms) that I didn't enjoy or have a knack for. Those were my big problem areas, and also the only place I ever got less than Bs.
On the whole, I was satisfied with the B+s I mostly got, and really resented the idea that I should do more than what I needed to in order to get those.
I can't beleive they didn't tell people and just let them assume.
I can. This is the guy who fired me over the phone through Joe. So yeah - not much expectancy of decency there, ya know?
True - I guess that should have been the first clue.
Kristin, tons of ~ma to your grandmother, your mother, and you.
Aimee, go you with the persistence. I hope you get good news from your boss soon.
I stumbled out of bed this morning and went out to breakfast, since my stove is electric, so no caffeine at home. The restaurant stopped serving breakfast at 10:30, so I had lunch. Then I went to my nail appointment. My supposed to be black nail polish that I brought with with me was an ugly brown, so I ended up with sparkly pink. They look like Easter eggs! Then I went to three stores getting Easter stuff for my nephews, TCG's neice and nephew, and TCG. I think I spent too much. Now I have to clean this place up before the showing, make up the Easter packages, and do a ton of schoolwork. So, what am I doing? Playing on the computer and watching Bones, of course.
I take it your power is back on, sj?
Kristin, much health to your grandmother and strength to you and your mom.
I take it your power is back on, sj?
Yes! I forgot to mention that. Buffista ~ma is powerful. I think it came back on around 1, because the nail place is right next door to me, and when I arrived their power had just come back on. I still have to reset all fo the clocks.
Thanks everyone. I'm just playing the waiting game now to see if it gets better or worse.
So, there's a woman who's totally willing to write a recommendation letter for me, except that, well, apparently I should write it. And then she can make some edits and sign it.
I cannot tell you how extremely uncomfortable that makes me. Any ideas about how to write my own recommendation letter?
