I think I got 3 out of 11. Maybe.
Why, yes, I
did
spend my teen years listening to old Simon & Garfunkel tapes and wearing out my copies of the
Hair
and
Cabaret
soundtracks and ignoring everything else on the planet (except, slightly, Prince), thank you for asking!
Anyone wanna tell me why I'm sitting here crying, listening to April Wine's
Just Between You and Me
(repeatedly).
(And yes I took my Celexa, today.)
(Although the Communists have invaded.)
(But still!)
You're sad about
The Black Donnellys
?
I'm happy to report that I got a lot of those hair bands wrong. I wasn't into that in the 80s. I was more a Smiths, Depeche Mode, Cure kind of teen girl.
Dude. I love video games, and I'm sure GH2 is fun to play...but listening to music I don't particulary like when played by the original artists with added faux-guitar clicky noises and missed notes?!?
I can't stand how Mr. Jane, and most boys with the exception of best friend only play a snippet of a song until they switch to something else they'll only play a snippet of. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
You're sad about The Black Donnellys?
I'm more aw-shoot sad about TBD, than crying sad.
There's something about this song that makes me feel about 14.
eta
Ah...it seems I turned 14 shortly after the album was released. [link]
most hair metal bands look very similar. I think I did quite well considering that there are days I don't recognizes my neighbors( or maybe that's just morning)
I got all of them right. I don't know what that says about me.
I got them all right, too. Without even having to think that hard.
I was more a Smiths, Depeche Mode, Cure kind of teen girl.
Oh, I listened to them, too. I just also listened to a lot of hair metal.
Because I had a sisters who were 9 & 10 years older than us, my twin sister and I grew up in the height of late 60s and 1970s rock and roll. By the time the 80s hit, I was exploring alternative/pop stuff myself but my older brother is 6 years older so we had hair/metal bands covered as well.
Add my dad's classic bluegrass and country and mom's love of Elvis and easy listening and I think I had a near perfect musical childhood. The only thing really lacking was a decent base in classical music.
Shit. We've got an Amber Alert.
