I'm sorry, ND.

Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
ND, so sorry about the UCI job. Definitely their loss.
Sucky ND. May a dreamier job be just around the corner, and lucky you! You're available!
Very sorry and surprised. It's their loss indeed. May this turn out to free you up for something better (and, speaking as a low-level academic worker bee, I wouldn't be surprised if, even though you didn't get this, the whole process does lead you to another open door somewhere down the line).
The former deputy director here used to say to folks that didn't get jobs here that they didn't match the needs of the institution at that time. They may have had outstanding qualifications, but just didn't fill the specific holes that we needed filling then. I don't know if this is any consolation, but I've found it helpful. Still, all the platitudes in the world don't keep this from sucking right now.
I'll keep some ~ma your way that a better job comes open soon where you and the position are the best fit possible, and that you get that one.
I fucking hate March.
I'm sorry ND, that sucks mightily and is no reflection on YOU.
Thanks to a flash of inspiration, K-Bug will also be receiving a batch of certificates entitling her to an extended curfew. Not only is it her birthday, but she has also hit the 12 month mark of having her drivers license, so a bunch od driving restrictions have been lifted, including her driving curfew.
I fucking hate March.
Can't say I blame you. I'm really, really sorry (which goes out to both you and ND, as I'm sure you know.)
I fucking hate March.
I hear you. I'm kind of partial to the 30th, but the rest of the month has been pretty crappy for Buffistas. Everyone should be happy and well on the 30th, though. I decree it!
Thanks. It just really sucks, because there are only a few graduate sound design programs in the entire country. The chances of another opportunity like that coming along any time soon that wouldn't require moving to some random part of the country are pretty slim. I really wanted Drew to get this. He deserved it.
(Btw, he's working this evening at Universal, so he's not likely to respond to anyone here until later, just so you all know.)
