Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Just had a convo with a MTB this weekend, and she raved about Target.

Something we should know?

:)

It's my SIL's birthday next week. And with me in my soon-to-be auntie status, I feel the need to know the best of the best places to buy gift certificates to keep the mommy happy.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Target is good, but it depends on the individual store -- some have an inexplicably lousy selection. Target.com is better. Motherhood.com is also good, and has a few nice nursing tops as well.

And, of course, there's always ebay.

Because books.

Aimee, I think the letter looks great. Fingers crossed he responds.

vw, I loved Target when I was pregnant with Sara. The Liz Lange stuff is affordable, a lot of it is mix and match, and stuff I would wear if it wasn't, you know, designed with a big belly in mind. She also designs some of the pants for both first trimester and right after birth, when you don't *quite* need maternity stuff but your regular stuff is too small.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Mine are all from Old Navy 'cause I'm cheap that way, but Destination Maternity probably has the widest selection.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Where are your favorite places to get good, affordable maternity clothes?

OLD NAVY. And also eBay.

Gap is awesome. I loved the pieces I had.

brillig

We were going through boxes of papers from Hubby's Mother yesterday, trying to find the genealogy that she spent thirty years compiling. Ah, the joy of being the oldest child, inheritor and sorter of everything that's was left.

However, success, we found a copy of Hubby's original birth certificate, which lists his birth father's name, and a copy of his sister's original certificate, which not only gives birth father's name, but his birth date and where he was born and what military unit he was in. Hubby has genetic reasons for wanting to know where he comes from, because a lot of his health problems are probably inherited. His mother was a great believer in rewriting history and refused to discuss her first husband--as if adoption changes DNA.

It's not quite "Kunte Kinte, I found you!" but it's the trailhead.
