See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Good God, Sean. What the fuck hospital is this?

I work for a good, good, good man, and I know another good, good, good man who has a faculty appointment in Anesthesia and also covers for the pain management service. If you want to email me details, I can check with the two of them and see if they have any contacts at all at any LA-area hospitals that could help, either with the meds or with navigating the bullshit bureaucracy.

Ok, I just checked with my boss. If you can call the prescribing doctor -- if s/he's gone home, insist that the answering service send out a page. If there's an ER anywhere near you at all and you and S can bear to leave the house again, the doctor should call that ER, tell them S is coming in, and prescribe a stat morphine injection for the moment she arrives (this gets around the "how can we tell she's not just a drug hound showing up begging for painkillers?" issue).

Then call the doctor again tomorrow and make sure s/he speaks to a pharmacy and gets verbal confirmation from the person in charge that the morphine prescription will be filled and that s/he is to be paged if anyone else has any issues with this.

Providence St. Joseph in Burbank. Normally a VERY good hospital, but apparently there's a bit of disconnect between ER (or, at least, ER night staff) and the other physicians she's seen in the hospital.

If you can call the prescribing doctor -- if s/he's gone home, insist that the answering service send out a page. We may try this route, though right now, S is trying to actually sleep some. We'll see what we can make happen tonight. It might not. S might just decide to muscle through the night, until we can get her more pain meds in the morning.

I did run this by S, and I don't think she's up to trying it tonight.

See, our apartment is VERY not handicap-friendly. It's forty steps from the ground to our apartment door. It was a nightmare trying to get her up them this morning. Even suggesting trying to get her down them, and then back up later produced a very vehement FUCK NO.

It seems she'd rather suffer through the night and wait for the morning for me to go out and try again, than to brave the stairs.

{{Sean and S.}} What a mess, I hope tomorrow morning sees everything straightened out.

{{{Sean & S}}} I'm sorry you have to deal with all this b.s. on something that should be easy. Much pain~ma to S.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

That's just awful , Sean. And while I understand how things can get messed up, and how one person's problems are just one among many... still, my mind boggles.

Skipping ahead to say:

BT, wow! Congratulations!

{{{{{{{{Aimee}}}}}}} There just aren't enough brackets.

So, how much snow did you get overnight, libkitty?

None, vw. Gah. Where's the snow when you actually want it? However, I fear that not all hope is lost and we'll get plenty to make up for it. It's only March. And now they're saying that what we were supposed to get is coming tonight. We'll see.

Jeez. Do I sound conflicted much?!

I skipped like craxy to come post, and now I have to run. Much punctuation to all who need it.

The paper I was reading was attributing one aspect of the paucity of wmen in upper levels in higher education management to male homosocialbility. The golf buddy syndrome.

Oh, OK, yes I've heard of that. Fun!

I have 300 hours of sick leave, fuck it.

Dude! Go be sick, Vortex! Though really, you should use the sick hours for not being sick, more fun that way.

I love the Billytea and Wallybiyi pictures!!

I would except THE FUCKING PLASTERERS ARE HERE

Aww. This is why you're moving to your own house soon!!

I just want to go home at this point where I can grieve and have someone else take care of me instead of vice versa.

Oh, Aimee. Big big hugs.

Aw, Matilda and Emmett have the sibling love!

Indeed!

I just want to know -- does the "egg role" contest offer categories for "deviled," "Benedict," and "over-easy"?

Dude. I TOTALLY want you to show up as over easy.
