Is it a graphic novel?
It's a collection of short stories featuring each of the Endless, in hardback format with a suggested retail price of $24.99. Last Thursday, there was a single issue Sandman: Endless Nights Incentive Special that came out and had one of the stories collected in the book (it was Dream's story). I thought it was pretty cool, and it really whetted my appetite for the book. It also had the unfortunate (in that I have no time) side effect of causing me to want to re-read the entire Sandman series.
imagining what it would be like to play as Tim...
Wouldn't this work out more like a multi-player verstion of Doom, with the Tim player engineering the grisly deaths of the other players' characters?
Maybe they were just confused by the "stake the vamp anywhere near the torso and he's dust" choreography of the TV show.
Maybe, but it takes things a little too far, I think. My cousin was watching me play for awhile and got great amusement out of Buffy taking out one vamp by staking him in the crotch. The game literally has you stake the nearest available body part--the vamp in question was jumping at me, to clarify before the porny minds around here get going. ;)
Playing as Joss sounds very fun...and what other game based on a series or movie lets you play as the creator? Maybe the third game will have an easter-egg setting where you can play as Marti Noxon, Jane Espenson, Rebecca Rand Kirshner, David Fury, Tim Minear, and the Drews. A writer-creator smackdown. They could each have their own style or speciality. It could work!
It is fun. He also makes very wussy "Ow!" noises when he gets hit. No other writers or directors are available, though you can also play as Chris Buchanan(sp?) of all people, who has some amusing things to say when you beat up on Joss with him. (I haven't tried him versus any of the other characters.) What's kind of disappointing is the characters don't make any quips about beating on their creator. Though as disappointing aspects of the game go, it's kind of low on the list.
(ETA some neccessary nouns and verbs)
I really wasn't thrilled with multiplayer at all and it gave me a headache how if you are playing and another character is there that you can injur them by accident, cause I killed Tara like 5 times when trying to save her from Ethan.
Although it's nice to play as everyone else, I don't see how Xander has the power he has, he should get his ass pounded on much more. And Faith I thought, was much better than everyone else. Her moves were smoother and damn sexy I might add.
Buffy was okay, but she didn't look as much like SMG as the first one, Willow was closer this time, Giles liked like crap, I thought Xander was better last time around, and Spike was pretty consistent.
It's an okay game, but a bit of a step down from the last one, I wish the Collective had stuck around for this one.
Eta stupid spelling errors...it's late over here on the Eastern side of things.
Huh. I didn't have any problems in the protect Tara fight. I think I may have accidently singed her with one Fireball, but that's it. On the other hand, I generally stuck to using the Sun spell when she'd get swarmed.
I personally didn't think there was much difference, if any, between the way Buffy and Faith handled. I was actually kind of disappointed they didn't make them more unique. Though I think Spike wins in the ability to unleash a brutal beatdown category. He makes really stupid noises when he jumps, though.
Willow would defintely be the "most improved" for character visuals. Giles was defintely off, though he's even worse-looking in the "comic book" you can read in the Extras.
But I agree with you. The Collective did a much better job than Eurocom did. Did they pass on making the second game, or did whoever owns the video game rights to Buffy just decided to take them somewhere else? If it was a case of EC being the lowest bidder, it certainly shows in their final product. I absolutely loved the first game and still play through a level now and then to pass the time. I don't know that I'll ever replay Chaos Bleeds now that I've finished it.
Random fandom announcement: 1602 #2 goes on sale today.
Excellent. t /Monty Burns
As a side note to that announcement - be sure to get your copies early, since there were many reports of issue #1 selling out quickly, and #2 issues are traditionally (although probably not in this case) ordered in lower quantities.
(Side note to the side note - reports are in that 1602 #1 was the top selling comic last month).
My 1602 #1 is now living with SA, so I hope I remember everything from it.
