Mal: Okay. She won't be winning any beauty contests anytime soon. But she is solid. Ship like this, be with ya 'til the day you die. Zoe: 'Cause it's a deathtrap.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I liked all of Kirby's 4th World stories, but Scott Free's escape from Apokolips fired up my 10 y.o. imagination

For me it was "The Pact" (I think) which was the story of how Scott wound up on Apokolips (and Orion wound up on New Genesis) in the first place.

So I'll throw that one out there:

  • New Gods
  • Legion of Super Heroes v3
  • Powers
  • The Complete Peanuts, by Schulz
  • the complete Bloom County

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hmmm. This is mostly a list of what I'd like to curl up and read from end to end now...but I think they'd be okay on a desert island too

  • Sandman
  • Uncanny X-Men
  • Batgirl
  • Hellblazer
  • Books of Magic

Joss Astounishing for another year.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Legion of Super Heroes v3

That's the Giffen run?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

as they're the two books that have made me WEEP LIKE A GIRLY MAN.

Don't worry. You'll always be butch to me.

Nope. Giffen was v4, may he rot in hell.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

How many resets has LSH had by now?

Also, does anyone else here follow "Fables?"

So is v3 the Cockrum era? Seems like that would be v2.

Actually, I probably shoulda said v2 and v3. v2 was Cockrum and Grell. v3 is Levitz. Giffen did do some of the penciling in v3, but he started plotting in v4.

The current run is v7, I think. There were complete resets for v4, v5, and v7. Every time some editor gets a hair across his ass, he decides to wipe out the 30th (or 31st) century.

Also, does anyone else here follow "Fables?"

I do. I like it quite a bit.

Have you read the most recent one? I was quite impressed by the reveal of the Big Bad. Not only was the BB not who I expected but the way the Big Bad went bad in the first place was very original, I thought.

Also, I gasped out loud when I saw what happened to the Blue Fairy.
