So, here's a challenge for us all: What graphic novel(s) would you give to someone to get them interested in comic if they are A) male B) Mormon C) noticably intelligent and D) carry around a Ramones lunchbox?
I'm thinking Watchmen, Fables, and possibly the Complete Baker Street.
Kalshane, on the
un-blowed-up
question, we have no clue yet. In fact, we
don't know for sure that it really-o truly-o IS Jason Todd,
because the same thing
happened in "Hush" -- it seemed like Jason was back, but it turned out to be Clayface imitating him.
As for
Blue Beetle --
I read a bunch of back issues of Birds of Prey over the weekend, and
Blue Beetle is in a decent amount of them, and it made me suddenly get the Blue Beetle-love, and now I'm sad about him being offed.

Sorry, my head just exploded.
Gandalf, even though I just dissed Kyle Baker, I would recommend Why I Hate Saturn.
I know nowt of the comics tastes of Mormons. For the other attributes, I'd add Transmet, Powers, Top Ten.
Gandalfe, what kind -- if any -- of comics knowledge has he picked up from TV and movies? Mostly, I mean just the general gist of Spider-Man, from the movies, etc.
Because if he has some basic knowledge, I utterly LOVE Marvels.
I know it's not a popular choice around here, but I'd also recommend the trade paperback of John Byrne's Man of Steel.
Sorry, my head just exploded.
Did I mention that he wears Buddy Holly glasses and has a shaved head? Very individualistic, he is.
Powers is very good. He might enjoy that. I thought of Astro City but I think it's a bit too much for the neophyte.
And, while enjoyed some of Top Ten, I have to say, and this may be sacreligious, that Alan Moore has gone way downhill. Tom Strong is also OK, but Supreme is too self concious, and Promethea? Ugh. He seems to have forgotten one of the first rules of story telling . . . . Show, don't tell.
Haven't read Transmet.
As far as the Mormon thing, I think just not, like, Preacher or Sin City. No boobies or outrageous language.
Forgot about Marvels. God, that's lovely.
I really like John Byrne. Maybe I'll try that.
Supreme is too self concious
I read
Judgment Day,
thinking it would be cool, but instead it kinda sucked, mostly.
Don't touch anything that's been touched by Rob Liefield. It's evil.
