Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.

"Don't think of yourself as an organic pain collector racing towards oblivion." Dogbert to Dilbert

Actually, Giffen's dispute with DC seems to be overblown - here's a quote from him in an interview he did about his upcoming Defenders mini-series:

A lot of people seem to think that Giffen hates and resents DC Comics and "Identity Crisis" because of the death of Sue Dibny, who was a prominent character in his "Justice League" stories from the 1980s. This is also untrue. "There's a lot of people out there trying to make a case for me being pissed off at DC and hating 'Identity Crisis,' and being broken hearted about Sue Dibny," Giffen said. " Hey, reality check, Sue Dibny, she's not even real. No, I'm not angry over 'Identity Crisis' or anything that went on it. Do I have issues with DC? I have issues with everybody! No there are no hard feelings and as a matter of fact I read 'Identity Crisis.' It's a good read and I understand why they're doing it. I get it. I really get it."

He may just be covering his butt so he doesn't close out opportunities at one of the Big Two, but it seems that the "dispute" may be a tad overblown.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

What's that great comics torrent place? I know there's a z in the title, but google is giving me no love and I can't for the life of me recall.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I don't understand why Archie doesn't just go ahead and choose Betty. Why someone would want to pick Veronica over Betty is beyond me. I mean, c'mon, it's so obvious.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I totally agree. Veronica is a bitch.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I totally agree. Veronica is a bitch.

I did appreciate that Archie preferred the brunette over the blonde, but yeah.

Of course, though, it was an act, because he knew he could never get her, and could safely continue his clandestine relationship with Jughead.

I'm completely spoiled for Countdown to Infinite Crisis, but I'm picking it up, anyway. It's $1. How could I not?

Also:

Batgirl
Batman (just so I can find out who's under the hood)
Outsiders
Astounishing X-Men

Also, really good interview with Greg Rucka on the whole Infinite Crisis thing and the new minis that are coming. Not spoilery, but definitely gives an idea of where things are going.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I flipped to the end of Batman and grrr. Pfft. I read Astounishing, and not enough happened (though the look of awe on Wolvie's face as he processed Colossus' return was cool). I read Batgirl, and it made me mist up. I love that girl. Not enough happened in Outsiders, and some of what happened wasn't plausible enough.

Also read the Countdown. Well, that was no surprise. And I think I saw brain matter. They're going to have to work to bring the guy back. Well written, I thought, but still perplexing. Blue Beetle was endearing and sympathetic, and the Booster Gold interactions were great. Batman and Superman were very distilled to their essences. I loved that. Not excited by BB buying it, though, not at all.

When I got to the comic store and walked in, the new releases rack was empty. Entirely. Aghast, I looked at Cute Comic Book Guy Who I Have A Crush On. He said "You have NO idea. The UPS guy came with the delivery before we were open this morning, and he STILL hasn't come back."

"Nooooooooo!" I wailed. I begged Comic Book Guy to just kill me, because I couldn't stand the wait. We badmouthed the UPS guy, talked about Sin City, Comic Book Guy asked "Did you cut your hair?" (small squee), and I left....as the UPS truck pulled up. So I walked right back in, and perused the 50-cent back issues while they opened the new comics. Then I claimed mine, Comic Book Guy told me Batman was good this month, and here I am.

I skimmed through Batman (and, oh, for god's sake -- you have GOT to be kidding me -- I know it was led up to with a thousand neon anvils, but still), started Countdown, and then Lost came on and now I need to go back to my comics, because yay! New comics day!
