Discussion of Buffy and Angel comics, books, and more. Please don't get into spoilery details in the first week of release.
All this talk of the spoilerifficness of the DC solicits raises an interesting question - when does it stop being a spoiler? Once could make the argument that the DC solicits are analogous to promos at the end of tv episodes, which we genrally consider fair game. Or maybe we need to wait until it actually appears in a comic, like the "DC insider" or whatever they call that monthly piece that appears near the end of every DC (which this month features the return of the Green Lantern monthly comic)?
Any opinions? (I know, this is the Buffistas. There will be opinions.)
Viewing in the particular font I've selected, your "DC" looked like "OC" for a moment and I had thoughts of Seth and Anna doing Comic Con.
To me, solicits are like TV Guide.
Personally, I think that when the solicits are available, it's the equivalent of a promo at the end of a TV show.
Though I can also see the argument that no, you have to expend some effort to find the solicits that are a couple of months out, like looking for interviews with Joss et al., and that just the material at the end of the comics should be discuss-able.
So is this the big
we brought back Larry the Lobster Jason Todd that I've kept hearing rumours of?
Frankenbuddha, what I'm referring to isn't Jason Todd, but a different dead character. Though Jason may well reappear, too, since Hal Jordan is back and it seems like more dead characters are returning than in Farscape.
And for our next trick we undo Crisis on Infinite Earths
Does this mean Donna Troy is going to come back too? Can I just note once again how much I dislike the disrespect of DEATH as a narrative trope? Some things ought to be consequential.
Heh. Actually, there's some speculation that that might happen. At least to some degree. t edit That was in response to Frankenbuddha.
In response to Hec, let me link you to the cover whose spoilertasticness made me laugh my ass off: [link]
It's the equivalent of "Spike? Coming to Angel? But he's DEAD!"
Some blurbage from the aforementioned spoilery comic: DC SPECIAL: THE RETURN OF DONNA TROY #1
A 4-issue miniseries written by Phil Jimenez that unites artistic titans Jose Garcia-Lupez and George Perez for the first time and heralds the triumphant return of one of the DCU's most popular characters! She was raised as a goddess, linked by blood to Wonder Woman, crowned as a Titan among both mortals and gods -- but Donna Troy's story is the triumph of the human spirit.
Torn from Earth by the events of Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day, Donna Troy has reemerged among the Titans of Myth as Troia, Goddess of the Moon. But memories of a different life haunt her as she leads the Titans of Myth in the final battle of a long campaign of interplanetary conquest, gathering weapons, warriors, and worshippers to fulfill a mission she has begun to doubt. It will take the combined might of the Outsiders and the Teen Titans to solve this cosmic mystery and reveal Troia's true destiny to her: a cosmic hero destined to unite legions against a threat to the entire universe!
The Return of Donna Troy is a new beginning for Donna Troy -- and a stunning prologue of things to come throughout the entire DCU!
