Today's haul:
- Outsiders 14
- BoP 70
- Flash 212 (yes, Plei, you made me do it)
- GK 55
Read Robin 128 in the store -- still not into it enough to buy it, although I did enjoy
the Batgirl/Tim scene. Just because there was one. And there should be more. Of such scenes, and of both their adorable wee psycho-selves
.
Reviews of the others TK, after I've read 'em.
Flash 212 (yes, Plei, you made me do it)
Whee!
Sorry I didn't have 210 and 211 for you. I just have hard copies of those. (They're worth getting for the Dick/Wally interaction.)
(In the platonic sense, of course.)
Quickie review no. 1: GK 55:
Holy crap. Holy everlovin' FREAKing crap. Off to reread, well, all sorts of things.
People, if you aren't reading this title, you should be. That is all.
Editorial Note Hayden
His Watchmen mini-series for DC and, later, his Miracleman series for the independent Eclipse Comics company, seemed, at first, to represent the kind of quantum leap that Stan Lee had made.
Miracleman (as Marvelman) precedes Watchmen. A significant distinction since Marvelman was really Moore's very first run at superhero comics. Miracleman was
reprinted
by Eclipse in America after the Watchmen came out. But it came out originally in England before Watchmen.
Amych, would you suggest a re-read first of 50-54?
would you suggest a re-read first of 50-54?
Yep. The HSQ is new this issue, but as it's the last of a mighty plotty and complex arc, it's definitely worth a look back. (There's other rereading to be done too, but it'll be clear what that is after you've read.)
BoP assessment: I am slightly confused (on backstory, not the Huntress plot) yet intrigued.
Robin #128: meh.

Huh. I will do so, then.
I can think of at least two things that might be the other re-reads.
You know, I like it when a storyline does that.
Oh! I picked up Powers last week (?) and looked at it but I was kinda put off by the art work.
Like Gloomcookie, I like the art style too. I mean, come on: Christian looks exactly like Bruce from the
Batman
animated series.
From hayden's link:
One of the most outstanding and noteworthy characteristics of Powers during its finest moments is its rapid-fire and modern-noir dialogue, an aspect Bendis happily admits he cribbed wholesale from the TV drama “Homicide: Life on the Streets.”
Heh. Someone needs to tell Erika to read
Powers.
I only have issues 54 and 53 of GK -- so I'll need to get the other two.
One reason I didn't get Daredevil (I remember now) is that it looked like I would need the past 2 issues or so to understand what is going on in the current issue.
