'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

So... if one wanted to check out the latest Superboy model -- as evidenced in Shrift's latest bit of fanfic over on LJ -- is there an easily obtainable series to do this with? Probably called Superboy, I suppose, but I wanted to check here, because if I walk into my local comics purveyor and tell them that I ran across the character in a slash fanfic story where he's kissing Nightwing, they -- just possibly -- might look at me funny.

Remember, remember/the fifth of November/the Gunpowder Treason and Plot/I see no reason/Why Gunpowder Treason/Should ever be forgot.

Theo, the only title Superboy currently regularly appears in is Titans, though he is a frequent guest star in the Superman titles.

Superboy, the comic, was cancelled a while back.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

He's much more likely to kiss Robin in TT, Theo, I should mention.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Theo, if you've seen my Superboy/Robin icon from LJ, that's from Teen Titans.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Theo, pick up the Young Justice trades and the Teen Titans trade.

NOT, I should stress, Teen Titans GO!, which is a totally different beast.

I couldn't get into Young Justice. Teen Titans is nice and light at times, but Justice #1 was too goofy for me.

Young Justice wound up with some of the bleakest, darkest stuff I've read in comics. And it made me cry. More than once.

But it took a good while before it got to the point where it could tug on your heartstrings like that.

Around where? And would it still hit you if you hadn't read all the preceding?

The silly lets up about 10-15 issues in, IIRC.

Yep. About issue 15, I think. But I'm not sure if it would hit you if you hadn't read all the preceding.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Young Justice was special in that it gathered up all the young, vaguely stupid characters in DC that I find too annoying for words and gave them their own title. It's as if Joss made a show starring Dawn, Kennedy, Andrew, and Connor. With occasional mentoring visits from St. Cordy, "Provider"-era Angel, and Season 7's Speechifying!Buffy.
