Lorne: Take care of yourself and ah, make sure fluffy is getting enough love. Gunn: Did he have anything? Fred: No. And who's fluffy? Are you fluffy? Gunn: He called me fluffy? Fred: He said make sure…wait. You don't think he was referring to anything of mine that's fluffy, do you? Because that would just be inappropriate.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

No kidding, Amych. (:

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

On a different note, did anybody pick up the
Ex Machina or Challengers of the Unknown debuts last week?

Yes to both. Ex Machina looks fairly interesting so far. But I won't be picking up Challengers #2.

As for Astonishing, apparently Mr. Better-not-read-my-mind-you-can't-handle-what-you'll-find-there was right; if Emma had scanned him, she'd have been paralyzed by his overwhelming fear of fire. Surely there's no way dude could have been sure that it would be the X-Men Espionage Squad that would show up and not a team with, say, Chamber, Storm, or Rachel Summers?

Jeez, what if the Fantastic Four had showed up instead?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

What was really fascinating to me was reading the Bruce Wayne-preparing to become Batman bits and lining them up with stuff from - season 2? Angel. "I'm not ready yet..." etc.

Dude! That's exactly what I flashed back to. Yeah, that's S2, "Redefinition."

Beast's "Not even a 'You haven't seen the last of me!'??"

"Nobody has any standards anymore!"

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

As for Astonishing, apparently

Matt, it occurred to me that maybe it was the fact that Lockheed is an alien, rather than the fire itself, that had the effect - mutant powers don't work on him (the bad guy), which would tie in with the "cure". Granted, the Fan. 4 got their powers via space (at least that's their original origin - I assume that hasn't changed) so they may still have been able to whip him.

I may have to seize the cat.

Ohmygod, did I mention that I LOVE Batman: Year One?

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Has anyone else heard about this?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Has anyone else heard about this?

That's cool, and fits neatly with Ple's take on multiple interpretations of the same myth.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Has anyone else heard about this?

Oh, that's just plain cool.

Reminds me of some of the Manga interpetations of the Marvel Universe, some of which weren't half bad.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

Ex Machina's got a huge buzz, but having flipped to the last page of issue #1, I'm not so sure I can read the whole thing.
