I'd rather stay home and watch television. It's often funnier than killing stuff.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I've got a Nightwing question -- involving the arc that is just ending. I want to read it but have no idea how far back I have to go to find the beginning or to reach a point where it might make sense to me, you know?

I was wondering the same thing, when I was in the comic store a few weeks ago and trying to make sense of NW #91 (or maybe it was #92).

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

If you can find 'em, I'd say start with 75 -- that puts you before any of the big events, and at a not-too-confusing starting point. The next jump-in place (without putting you in the middle of a multiparter or anything like that) is probably 83.

Oh! Big Geek Moment: last night I dreamed I was in the Teen Titans, who were a weird conflation of the Cartoon Network Titans and the comic book Titans.

What? I was reading Batman: A Lonely Place of Dying before I went to sleep, and the Titans are in it. Makes sense.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

What Amych said. I mean, *yeah* they're dealing with events in this arc that date all the way back to the beginning, but picking up the backstory is easy enough.

DG's run starts in 71, but you can pick up in 75 easy.

Hey. New board.

In a much less mainstream comic vein, I just read the second issue of Serenity Rose again. It's awesome. I think you can probably still read the first two issues online at [link] and you should. Then go buy the issues in book form. Also, the third book is now out as well. I'm about to read it. Which makes me happy.

ETA: Yes, you can read them online. Click the yellow flower.

I also bought Robin: Year One to jump back into something you people talk about more.

I may have to seize the cat.

Looked at Batman in the 40s tonight a little, but my tummy got upset so I had to put it away.

I found myself thinking "Maybe I should just skip ahead to something more recent - something darker."

With Spiderman, I get through the old stuff because it's funny and because I identify with Peter Parker. But, I'm not so much an orphaned wealthy socialite, so I think I need a more compelling storyline to get me involved.

All the same, I may spend some time at the store tomorrow or Monday or some other day reading through that book, when I feel less pressed for time, and less tummyachey.

...I also saw the Fray TPB but didn't buy it as I have 1-6 and so only need 2 issues.

I haven't really read comics since I was young, but Fray made me curious and then 1602 made me very interested (though not in the Marvel-verse oddly enough) and yesterday I started Gotham Central (bought the first TPB) and wow is it addicting. I just have too much backstory to catch up on; it's making me dizzy.
