You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

When I forced myself to read it, I liked the story, but that artwork makes my rat puppet cry.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Damn I hate his artwork.

So, not much use for Ralph Steadman, Gerald Scarfe, etc.?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I do hate Ralph Steadman. He freaks me right out. But that could just be all the Wall associations.

That would be the other Englishman I named. Ralph is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (and lots of other Hunter S. Thompson). Gerald Scarfe is the Wall guy.

Ronald Searle gets metioned with them as well. Also English. I think Bill S. is American though.

Ralph Steadman, Gerald Scarfe

Don't know them by name, so I have no idea.

Are they similar, Frank? I don't think I've ever seen any of Ralph's stuff, but I have him irretrievably tied to Pink Floyd.

VERY similar. And an admitted influence on Sienkewicz's more out there stylings. But the Floyd guy is Gerald Scarfe.

move out and draw fire

Superboy is (deep breath, this is a long one) the teenaged clone of Superman, artificially aged in a tube, who actually only has 50% of Superman's DNA because of some silly handwaved comic book science; the other half of his DNA comes from Lex Luthor.

So Lex and Clark have had a love child. Perfect.

Escapist: bleah.

Yeah. I liked the Gold/Colan story quite a bit, but the conceit of each issue being a collection of greatest hits and lost episodes is starting to wear thin. The submarine story was truly awful.

swamps, mardi gras, and napoleonic law

Delurking to ask if anyone else has checked this out. Tried to skim to see if anyone was talking about it, but not so good with the skimming.

I was totally prepared to be very embarrassed for her, but found myself quite impressed. I wish her the best.
