Zoe: Yeah? Thought you'd get land crazy that long in port. Wash: Probably, but I've been sane a long while now, and change is good.

"Don't think of yourself as an organic pain collector racing towards oblivion." Dogbert to Dilbert

The problem with having American Flagg come out from Dynamic Forces is that you know they will charge up the ying-yang for it, especially when they talk about "limited print run". Still, if it's not too outrageously prices, it'd be nice to get.

Everybody knows that Chaykin is back in comics, right? He recently released the original graphic novel Mightly Love (a quasi-romantic comedy about 2 superheros who fall in love, but their secret identities can't stand each other - it didn't get good reviews), and this week the first of a six-part mini called Bite Club (about vampires ruling the mob) came out. He is also bringing out a reboot of The Challengers of the Unknown later this year.

Nexus

There very much needs to be a collected Nexus reprint. That was an awesome comic.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

For those who didn't read Nexus, it's sort of like what you'd get if somebody with Superman-like powers had Batman-like problems.

An ancient Alien race gives one guy nearly unimaginable power and then torments Nexus with debilitating dreams that will kill him if he doesn't do their will: which is to assasinate murderers.

Plus it's gorgeously drawn by Steve Rude, incredibly deep and rich supporting cast (some of my favorite characters ever like Judah and Dave), very funny, all kinds of jazz in-jokes (Mike Baron the writer used to be a music critic, so characters will yell things like "Klacktoveedesteen!" while going into battle, which was (I think) a Charlie Parker song title), dark storylines. In short, it's the Buffy of Superhero comics.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

But the initial run of AF was brill. Beautiful visuals, unusual storylines, complex characters with murky motives.

Totally agree on this, although I don't know how complete the stuff I have is. It's FUN, though, in a serious way.

Art Crawl!!!

I'm thinking of strolling to the comic shop on lunch hour again.

I'll probably pick up the 2nd issue of "Broken City" but am thinking of maybe picking up something else too. Is there a good and recent arc of Nightwing that I could pick up to see if I like it?

Megan's ticket is pre-sold.

I do think he's one of the best choices ever for the role. He's got the dark and he can snark. And he can also play Bruce with various degrees of pretty and vapid.

Remember, remember/the fifth of November/the Gunpowder Treason and Plot/I see no reason/Why Gunpowder Treason/Should ever be forgot.

which is to assasinate murderers.

Well, to be more specific, mass murderers. People that orchestrate deaths on the scale, of, oh say 10k and up...

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Christian Bale is the hottest movie Batman EVAH!!!11!!

Bah. He looks generic. George Clooney and Val Kilmer are WAY hotter.

However, they were NOT good at playing Bruce/Batman. (Though I think Val could have pulled off the fucked-upped-ness, but the story didn't really go that way.)
