Charles actually did his sons a favor by marrying late -- they aren't going to have to wait around forever for dad to kick off.
In the Ottoman system, Charles, Anne, and so on would have been off in a cage somewhere waiting for La Liz to die. Then when she died, they'd pick one and assassinate the others.
Think of all the tabloid stories we'd have been spared. Although we might have gotten "Queen sets Corgis on Errant Child" instead.
FYI, for those of you interested in lining up now, Michael Chabon's The Escapist Vol. 1 made Diamond Comic's shipping list for tomorrow.
The cover price is $8.95, BTW.
I'll be getting it, though. I'm weak. So very weak.

So I just stopped into my comic shop to ask when The Escapist would be in and got the you-are-the-four-billionth-person-to-ask-me-that response.
Comic Shop Guy: "NO. I DON'T know when the Escapist will be here. NO. I CAN'T hold a copy for you when it comes because I DON'T know how many we are getting! OK?!"
Apparently, there is some anticipation out there.
