shrift, have you had any Chicago-style thin crust since you've arrived here? I personally think it's much better than the thick crust pie, and completely different than thin crust elsewhere in the country--more sauce and cheese, so much that it comes off with your first bite of the slice, a definite preference for sausage (pronounced "saaas-age") over pepperoni, a cracker-like crust with a bit of chewiness, and cut into small squares as opposed to wedges. Some poor souls think that New York thin crust is the best, but I'd put Chicago thin crust up against their foldable slices any day!

Man, if I had a nickel for every time I said that...

I think I'd owe someone a dime.

brillig

I don't like square bits of pizza, I like a crust that I can hold on to and keep my fingers relatively clean.

Is the sauce on the sweet end or the garlicky end of the spectrum?

It's usually a tad sweeter than most, but can vary from place to place. My SIL, a NJ girl born and raised and the lifelong employee (and daughter of a previous owner) of a prominent Princeton pizzeria (Conte's, if anyone is familiar with it), tried some at my favorite pizzeria (Armand's in Elmwood Park and a few other locations, including just down the street from my new apartment--yay!) a few years back, and thought the sauce was very good; in fact, she said her father would have loved it, and he was very picky about his pizza sauce!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I maxed out on Chicago style pizza when I lived in Detroit. Which is a shame, because I at least should have tried the real stuff before swearing off it. But it makes me queasy now.

Man, belt test results are decided but not announced. I've spoken to at least one instructor who knows if I passed or not, but she's not giving anything away. Another instructor is supposed to be calling us. I don't know I failed. Or that I passed. I know I'm displeased with my performance, and that's a much worse place to be.

On the upside, home and looking at the kitchen and wondering what to eat.

FOOD!

Man, belt test results are decided but not announced.

Now that's just mean! No fair telling y'all they've decided before they tell you what they've decided!

It's also possible I'm having issues with patience.

I ordered wine from this kosher winery up in Napa so I'd have some to bring to a seder next week - getting wine delivered is so decadent! Anyway, a case of sauvignon blanc just arrived, though I had only ordered a half case. I'm guessing they are frazzled up there with Passover orders coming in and maybe have hired some temps to help get everything shipped out, and it's certainly not a problem for me to have extra wine, but my full case of pinot noir hasn't arrived yet. It could show up correct, or it could be a half case if someone got my order reversed, or it could be 2 cases if someone is just not seeing the "half-case" description on the order form. Suspense!

It's a shame that it's too early for me to break open a bottle, since I have all this extra.

Man, I want the krav people to tell ita her results, but I can't think of any way to coerce them.
