Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Consuela, the last time I made muffins, I realized I only have a six-muffin tin, but re-using it worked just fine. Took longer, but worked fine.

nods

That's what I did the last time I made cupcakes.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Well, we'll see what happens, then. It's an apple-nut cake, with a pretty heavy dough that doesn't rise too much. Tasty, though.

Our wings are not tired.

Nutty, I'm so sorry. We do need some heavy duty job~ma here.

Because books.

Oh, damn, Nutty. Today is officially Sucktastic.

I can't even tell you how much I want a cupcake right now.

-t is me. So much.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Geez, I guess the danger of having two Buffistas working at the same place is that they can be laid off on the same day. (Though considering we worked for totally different divisions in totally different roles, what are the chances?)

I'm a little more reconciled to my fate now, though I keep tripping over thoughts about the job tasks I have ahead of me next week... none of which I'm now responsible for. But I learned long ago that my career isn't my life (just a part of it) so I can grab down one of the other hats I have hanging around -- writer, craftsperson, fan, daughter, sister, friend and spend more time on that aspect.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Mr. Jane owns a bar?

No, he doesn't own it. A nice lady named Michelle does. He manages it and bartends. Today he was on the basketball court staining tables and tenting the whole back area for a party tomorrow night. You know what? Imma give you guys a tour.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, what the hell, today? Ease up, already!

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I'm sorry, Nutty.

Geez, Nutty, I'm sorry.

What is even happening?

Cindy, I couldn't tell you the last time I made cake from a box. Five years? Possibly ten.

Hee. That's probably the last time I made a cake from scratch, Consuela. I have so many "helpers" in the kitchen, I found it necessary to simplify the baking if we were going to have fun together.
