Mostly lurking...

Skipping 700 messages to find out if someone could e-mail me this NYT article. My library isn't giving me a full text option, because they suck (which is my current default response on anything related to my school right now).

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

This is so true - my mother is grad secretary in a biology department at a local university. She told me about a research proposal that was rejected because the ethics panel said they did not adequately account for how they would dispose of the research subjects.

The research subjects?

Bacteria

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I'm off to check out a duplex in Echo Park. Wish me luck!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

...the ethics panel said they did not adequately account for how they would dispose of the research subjects.

The research subjects?

Bacteria

So, "flush down the toilet" isn't good enough? How about "expose to gamma rays and release into the wild"?

I really want to know how they're disposing of bacteria. Cause if they flush it down the toilet, it could infect the life in the sewers, and that's where Movies of the Week come from.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I don't have access to the NYT archives, but that article did indeed report some k-razy overreaching by ethics panels.

No, I'm pretty sure it wasn't that sort of question. It was too long ago for me to remember properly! I messed up my funny story.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's morning.

Ow.

Allyson, best of luck, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
