It's vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel

Since I haven't actually looked at my paystub in mumbledymumbledy months I may be wrong, but I get paid a week after the pay period ends. So when I get paid this friday (2/16), it'll be for the 1/29 -2/9 period. But then, I get paid every two weeks, regardless of where we are in the month. That only addresses your second to last question, though.

I hate it when the cars driving in front of me haven't been fully cleared off. Not fun driving 65 on 95 when a sheet of icy snow comes flying at you!

So I guess I'm wondering - is this sort of issue common? Is getting a paycheck five days after the end of the pay period fall within the range of normal business practices? (I'm guessing it does.) When these sort of payroll changes happen, is it common for the business to compensate their employees in some way for the change?

Our paycheck schedule has changed slightly a couple of times, probably for similar reasons, but now it's set so we always get paid on the 5th & 20th. And sadly, no, I can't imagine getting compensated for that. Do you absolutely *have* to pay rent on the 1st? I'd try to work the landlord instead if you're on good terms.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yeah. I see the error of my ways. I felt lucky I wasn't the victim of road rage or profanity or anything.

I don't think I'll do that again....

You better not! I curse madly at the people who clear barely enough to see and then strew their debris down the road with abandon.

Strega got the Devil's Kevlar, I got Slushee.

You may have been the victim of profanity.

What's really scary is when the ice & snow starts flying off the tops of the big tractor trailers.

Now tagless for your comfort.

This is a good idea. If you have a good relationship with your landlord, I can't seem him/her minding getting paid on the 5th--it's only four days later, after all.

Well, at least I always clear all the windows, as well as the headlights and all signal lights. I'm amazed at the number of cars I see with the windows mostly obscured or signal lights completely obscured.

I just don't drive that much, so it had been three or four years since I had to deal with the thick ice on my car...

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

IT'S OUT!! IT'S OUT!

We just had a building meeting in which we had to name our favorite flavor ice cream. I feel the need to change my answer now (was Dulce de Leche).

I think I get paid like sara does. Timesheets at the end of the pay period, paid the following Friday.
