Look, you got a little stabbed the other day. That's bound to make anyone a mite ornery.

I just realized that I have not been at a company for more than 2.5 years. EVER!

Me too.

You are the normal ones. I've had the same job for 20 years, and I'll almost certainly be here another 20 years. Forty years in a job is almost unAmerican at this point. The University is not quite part of the real world.

Fortunately, it's not a crazy-making job. My main job description is "Think up with some ideas about why people act the way they do, and then come up with a way to figure out if your ideas are right." It's only boring when my ideas turn out to be boring, although that does happen more often than I would like.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Bones: The balloon was funny. And I would call that parkour, I think. Why are y'all bringing up secrets - are there secrets that could be kept but aren't, or are you just generally pleased that that isn't a common plot point?

brillig

Bones: I get tired of plot points hinging on "Oh, we mustn't admit what we're feeling" or "I can't possibly tell X about Y!" Actually addressing issues is refreshing. And I don't think Bones and Booth would work together, because they do frustrate each other something awful, and not in a good way.

I wonder if we'll see Bones' dad again this season.

Oh, okay. I agree, I was just afraid I was missing something. I don't always focus my whole brain on every episode.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

On the Amtrak thing from a while back, I take the train between DC and NJ fairly often, and it's definitely faster than driving. When my father drives me from our house in NJ to my apartment in DC, it generally takes around 5 hours, more if there's a lot of traffic. It takes 45 minutes to drive from our house to the train station in NJ, then 2 1/2 - 3 hours on the train, and maybe 15 minutes from the train station to my apartment.

I sometimes take a plane, but once I factor in the extra time to get to the airport, get though security, wait at the gate, get to the exit of Newark Airport, spend 20 minutes on cell phones with my mom as she drives in circles around the airport trying to find me (not allowed to just park outside and wait), and drive to the house from the airport, it takes just about as long as a train. Plus, way more hassle, IMO.

Damn it. I think I just tripped a circuit or something by trying to use my microwave and George Forman grill at the same time. Or, at any rate, something happened and they both lost power. (Nothing else lost power. They were plugged into the same outlet.) I think maybe the grill overheated -- there was a bit of a burned plastic smell.

Guess I need to talk to the super about it. I'll do that tomorrow morning -- dinner's done, so I don't really need the microwave until tomorrow.

As you all no doubt are waiting on the next installment in the Ongoing Saga of My Feet, I can now report that Yes, Virginia, there was indeed a shard of glass in My Left Foot. I have extracted the wee beast, and now I shall take a celebratory nap free of migrating splinter anxiety dreams.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Am I the only person here watching Top Design? I think Kelly Wearstler may have outdone herself with her clothes and hair this time!
