Sue, I read the article a few weeks ago. They don't say anything-- all their tests bore out was that if you go to the store, test out the mattresses and buy the one you like best, you will like it for the lifetime of the mattress; price and brand don't matter. They didn't do any rankings.
Aaaaah!! Don't they know how many mattresses are out there in the world? I need some help narrowing the field down.
Thanks bon.
Somerville schools are closing early too -- there's been a Snow Emergency! declared starting 48 minutes ago, though not a flake had fallen yet.
But, bravely, I went in to work anyway. And found out that my project leader stayed home to work. Ah well.
I was just talking about mattresses last night! Apparently all the brands are made in the same factory and just have different labels and pricetags. Also, my friend's husband bought a $1200 mattress and boxspring 8 years ago, which already is super saggy in the middle. I, OTOH, bought a second-hand (but less than a year old) relatively cheap mattress and boxspring for $100 ten years ago, and it's still awesome.
Seems like a crap shoot.
I guess the answer with mattresses is to buy the cheapest one that you like? I need a mattress bad; we got ours from my mother 10 years ago, and it sure weren't new at the time. But one is not in the cards for us any time soon.

That's always been my strategy and so far it has worked well.

They also make it hard to comparison shop. Every big brand seems to have an "exclusive" line for every store, which I am sure are all the same mattress renamed.
I currently have a very cheap mattress from Sears that's about 10 years old and is only comfortable with two foamies on top. So I'd like to get something more comfortable, and I'm willing to go higher end, but I don't really want to pay a lot of dollars if I don't have to.
I would totally say, "ha ha ha, we're having Spring and you're not" except that we're possibly getting snow sometime this weekend. . . although I don't think we're expecting a snowpacalypse.
Really not worth saying twice.
Has anyone here seen Blood Ties the series? I saw an ad for it in a magazine and want to know if it's worth checking out.
I liked the first one. Took some serious liberties with the book, but basically good. I didn’t like the characterization of Henry, and one of the big characters has been swapped out for a pretty goth girl, but I’ll keep watching.
i I've been forced to consider my wedding because my mother thinks about it often. If I don't shut down an idea immediately, she takes it as gospel.
You're totally going to do the naked-in-the-surf-at-sunset hippie wedding just to see how high her blood pressure can go, aren't you?
Nah, I want a traditional wedding. Although that would be fun :)
