Huh. S and I were just in exactly the same hospital that Robin is in. I should have known.

as of this morning I've lost 25 pounds on the diet—pretty good considering yesterday was the start of my sixth week.
Yay, Matt!!! I was pretty bad on my diet the last few days (had cookies twice, got a turkey bacon ranch wrap from Arby's for dinner last night even though I had my diet food in the trunk, and got a Snickers today--eating that before leaving was a mistake, since I was in the pool about 20 minutes later and felt a tad queasy if I stood still and felt the waves hit my stomach). But, I added four laps and two extra minutes kicking to my total last week (up to 24 laps and 9 minutes kicking!). Tomorrow's treadmill workout is going to be two minutes longer than Saturday's at an even faster pace, so I can end up meeting my goal of a 30-minute mile by the 23rd. And, I'm going to make sure I go in every day for the rest of the week to make up for my snacking.
I've still got a few library books waaaay overdue, but almost finished with them. I'll get them in this weekend and pay the fine, but will probably hold off on checking anything else out for a bit.
The big library in downtown Joliet sticks in my memory as the best place to go as a kid--it had huge marble columns in the foyer with steps leading up to the main floor. It was probably built in the 1920s, when the downtown went through a big boom.
House: Well! That was cool! I was thinking it would be cool if he did have cancer, espcially brain cancer, because his intellect is the most important thing, and what kind of treatments would he allow?
It's such a House thing to do, to want drugs in his head. "You don't have cancer! You should be making out with Cameron!" Cuddy was perfect.
But at least House and Wilson are talking to each other. Wilson's bow of "I'm your friend, asshole," was lovely. And I understand House's hesitation in going into the bar. It's a huge thing to give up a part of your self-image in order to move forward.
Huge peeve: Why did they cut out the lovely House theme music and opening??? Just so they could shove in some more commercials??? And I'm tired of scenes being put into previews that aren't shown in the show!
That handoff from Stewart to Colbert was hilarious!
Yes, the library is down the block, but how often do you go to it?
2 -3 times a week ( ok so I work there) and at least once every other week to my old library ( one library system is not enough) and honestly - when I wasn't working at a library, it was once a week. yes, they usually got 20.00 once a month from me. Still cut our home book budget way down. Did you know that one of the was that libraries can claim the need for more funding is by the numbers of books that get checked out;the number of people that walk thru the door ;and the number of people that use their online databases. useing your library can help increase funding.....

chinese new year celebration at my library
Right. Gotta pick up a reserve. I discovered a closer library branch, but it has the weirdest hours. And now LAPL charges you if you fail to pick up a hold.
Strange day. I've walked the few blocks from krav to the Starbucks/Robeks/Panda Express tons of times. Just not usually in street clothes. Today I managed to score a "Can I ask you something? Which part of heaven are you from?" which I repaid with a look of slight confusion and a shake of the head. "Goodbye angel!" replied he, which prompted another guy walking near me to start a conversation with me that lasted all the way to the centre. On the way back, I got my second comparison to Shari Belafonte Harper. The first time was half a lifetime before, when she wasn't blonde and neither was I.
My tummy hurts.
Can I have one of each of these?
Hell, I'm using my library in place of Netfilx right now. I'm there all the damn time! They have computers, and comic books, and movies, and, oh, well, yeah - books. And the best thing they have? The ability for patrons to request items online from any library in the system. Rock.
I am posting from a lovely, fully-functioning new computer. On battery power that still has, like, two hours remaining (as opposed to the previous one's, oh, five minutes). And I don't have to jiggle the power cord to make it work. It's like heaven. So much so, I'm not asleep yet like I should have been a couple of hours ago.
Can I have one of each of these?
Certainly!
Actually, I guess I should have used the British expression rather than 'tongue-in-cheek', but since I don't know the British expression I'll make one up and say the Jedi statement sounds biscuit-in-pocket.
Gud, I believe the expression is "taking the piss." Those wacky Brits.
If I'm going to diet, I'm probably going to have to give up the French bread and Nutella breakfasts, aren't I?
My natural cheapitude means that libraries have played a large role in my life -- free books to read! Worth all the fuss of going there and paying the occasional fine for lateness!
It's 7 degrees (-14C) out there, but at least there doesn't seem to be the high winds that made yesterday quite so delightful....
