Zoe: Captain will come up with a plan. Kaylee: That's good. Right? Zoe: Possibly you're not recalling some of his previous plans.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Blockbuster is corporate scum. I like supporting my local library. The books, they are free for all and provide for the learnin'.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I agree about supporting the library. It would be good if libraries could provide this service in exchange for some $$.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The books, they are free for all and provide for the learnin'.

Communist.

Thrive to spite them

Jesse, our paper calls that "Zing!"s (you can call or email) --usually stupid assholish comments people are too cowardly to put their name to like today someone attacked a elementary school girl who wrote a nice letter expressing her concern about all the trees that are being cut down locally for wider roads, etc.

And this gem: Know how to shut up a liberal? Ask them for their explanation for the rising ambient temperature of Mars.

Heh. Best to not ask the liberals where I am right now.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw. The Somerville Journal's Speak Outs aren't usually so bad.

Also, I love the library! Except I can't get there often enough -- I had to give up for a while, after paying a huge fine. Yet another reason I'm counting down the weeks til Summer Fridays.

Allyson, you totally need to point that out to them. Time for a science blitz.

I was talking to my dad about the EO thing, and he mentioned he remembers a similar bit of idiocy back in the day. I had vague recollections, but didn't say anything because I wasn't sure if I was imagining it. It was pre-internet. Also, probably from Edmunds, but likely not optics. He's going to poke in his paper files and see if he turns anything up.

I'm watching Bob Woodruff on The Daily Show, and holy shit, it's amazing how well he is. Really incredible.

It is, isn't it? Especially when you see the pictures of him missing a good quarter of his skull! Also, the xray/mri things that show the shrapnel. I'm really hoping he does a lot covering vets with traumatic brain injury.

I haven't been to a library for books since college. Which is sad. I think if I had kids, I'd be there often. I have very fond memories of biweekly trips to the library to pick out new books. There was a 7 book limit per patron and even going twice a week, we hit up against it everytime (well, my parents probably renewed books cause they took a little longer.) I also loved sitting in the magazine section, reading periodicals as dad browsed. We probably spent several hours there a week. I really ought to get a card at the Pikesville branch, if only for the amount of cheap novels I go through in a week.

When the broke ground for the new library in LC, I was about 4 or 5. I made the front page, above the fold, of the local paper for the occasion, digging with my wee army surplus shovel. I need to get my parents to scan that before it deteriorates more.
