Things I have learned today: The Avenue Q soundtrack is a little too close to home when grading English papers.
What do you do with a BA in English...
It sucks to be me! it sucks to be me! Is there anybody here it doesn't suck to be?

Oops! Meant to post that in Bitches. Ah well. Might as well leave it here too.
TAR: Oh thank god. I am so glad those two are gone.
I still love Rob and Amber, and I'm not afraid to say so. The thing with them is that even when they make a mistake, they move on and focus on the next thing. Or at least Amber can talk Rob down when he begins to go off the rails. They also second-guess themselves a lot less than most teams, which is a big key to their success. Plus I think they're funny as hell.
Just got home from San Francisco to find my apartment completely screwed up.
We got new windows. They had to take out my AC, which they left next to the couch, took off my curtains, somehow managed to rip out my curtain hooks, and knocked over Ruby's water and food bowls.
I have no idea how long she was without water. I left Friday morning at 8am.
And I got a rejection letter from This American Life.

Oh, poor Allyson, and poor Ruby (who I am sure will be okay).
Ugh, Allyson, that ain't no proper greeting. Poor Ruby!
So how was the con?
Jaysus, Allyson. They do not do right by you.
Speaking of Allyson, saw him at the movie theatre today. Flip flops.
The con was okay. I am not a good self-promoter, but will get better.
The Drive panel was interesting, and I missed Tim, terribly. He's just excellent at this sort of thing.
Nathan was asked to explain how Drive works. He asked for two volunteers. He said, "I have a friend who just wrote a book. His name is (Allyson forgets name because she was tired). Here's my plane boarding pass."
He ripped the pass in half, and handed each volunteer a half.
"The first person who gets their half of the pass to my friend will get a free autographed copy of the book."
One of the volunteers asked where he could find the guy, puzzled.
Nathan said, "Yes, see, that's Drive. You have to figure it out. Now I have to text my friend to let him know what's going on."
OMG, I may have just fallen a little bit in love with Nathan. That's too funny.
I dig Nathan.
Allyson, it's your first book, your first go round at all this stuff. Some self-promoters are born, and some people are startled to find it's suddenly required--the fact that it is is mega cool. By book five, you'll be a seasoned pro.
Saw Black Snake Moan tonight. I'm somewhat appalled that I recognised Justin Timberlake (I'd forgotten he was in the movie) by his cross tattoo on his shoulder.
