I don't think that's a good point. For starters, she doesn't know IF we're venturing out of it (I do make the occasional effort, but under Controlled Circumstances) and hitting the back button, and second... comfort zones exist for a reason.

Yes, but your CZ is much broader than mine is. I'll fully cop to being lazy and mostly reading whatever you/Consuela/Dana/shrift rec. I won't venture outside of my CZ for things like RPS or 'cest without a very solid rec, and I'm cool with that. But, say, the (HILARIOUS) Truck!Preg fic? I would never have read that without you reccing it, because my CZ includes not reading any preg stories.

So, maybe I should wander off my beaten path a little and find other stories that I never thought I'd enjoy.

Wow, I sort of feel badly for those writers. The only one whose name I recognize is keepaofthecheez, and that's from VM fandom (and even then I don't think I've read any of her fic).

The poster should have limited her focus -- stuck to encouraging people to give feedback on the work they like done by lesser known writers.

Yep. Exactly. I mean, I keep a recs list so that other people can find things they might not have found. I read recs lists from people I trust for the same reason. I don't, generally speaking, go wandering off the beaten path unless I've got a craving/itch I can't seem to satisfy with the usual suspects. Or unless it's Dark Angel, my fandom of little-to-no shame.
