John Dillinger escaped from prison by carving a gun out of a potato.
He was eventually shot in front of a movie theater in Chicago. There's a display there now.

I thought it was soap.
Woody Allen based the soap gag in "Take the Money and Run" on the Dillinger story. (So Stephen Fry tells me.)
One more thing. I go red in the face and start to get homocidally lightheaded when someone calls and asks for a name of someone who does not work here (we only have 5 or 6 people so it's not like they would be in another department), and then when I inform the caller that we don't have, say, a Jane here, they reply, "No you do! She's in management or something." @@@@@@@@@@@@ (forever)

Myrna Loy always felt bad that he got shot going to one of her movies. He was a big fan of hers.
all I really want to do is blurt out what I need and have you do it!
And we would be singing your praises. Seriously, we'd be all "One time...this lady called...and she just asked for what she needed."
I'd send you flowers. Or strippers. Or money.

I think I'm already out of Dillinger trivia....
When Dillinger was shot (actually, in the alley next to the Biograph Theater), before they were able to secure the body and take it away, women were dipping their hankies in his blood for souveniers.
Stephen Fry just said "Kneel before Zod." And compared Terrence Stamp to yaks.
That's so cool.
He's just so much awesome.
I have no idea who Stephen Fry is, so every time someone posts about him, I have this brief assumption that you're talking about the character on Futurama.
But then I remember that *his* first name is Philip.
