I usually see it spelled as perk, although technically it is short for perquisite, thus 'perq'.
Poeple use perk all the time, but it's short for perquisite, so the q is actually more accurate.
When the SO & I worked at Major Airplane Firm, he had a company cafeteria near his part of the compound that was pretty good. But the compound was so big that it was more difficult for me to go to the cafeteria from my part of the compound than it was for me to just leave and run by Schlotsky's or something.
