I've been totally aping Cintra Wilson for years.
Again, being influenced by somebody's style isn't the same thing as outright theft.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I want someone to be influenced by MY style!
So it's clear Eddie Izzard is the one true comedian.
Unless of course there's some funny, Un-USian, transvestite somewhere watching HBO and going "Executive Transvestite? Hey, wait a minute...."

I guess now that Mitch Hedberg is dead...that guy had a killer style, and his jokes are still funny written down. That is ridiculously rare. He was the best standup of his generation. God, what a loss.
It isn't. But when I sit down to write, I'm often disappointed by how little of the style I(very occasionally) get praise for is really me doing my thing. Which is only tangentially related to the comic conversation, I realize. But someday if anything comes of it, I hope I'd give the props where they are due.

True, but god, I loved his delivery. His escalator bit will start running through my head every once in a while.
It's still only 12F out there. CURSES.
Oh well. I guess I can't let Dana go outside while we wait for our other friend to arrive, because she may just decide to take another flight back to Texas.
His escalator bit will start running through my head every once in a while.Exactly! Whenever I see a broken escalator, all I think is "temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience"
I can't believe I don't know this. I thought I knew a lot about stand-up.
It's funny--I know my little corner of standup and improv pretty well. And when I was still living in Montreal, ver well. But if standups didn't come through there, either to the two comedy clubs or the annual festival, they almost didn't exist.
No Princess Bride musical. How can I miss it when I only just found out it was supposed to happen? But I do.
