Oh, yeah. There was this time I was pinned down by this guy that played left tackle for varsity... Well, at least he used to before he was a vampire... Anyway, he had this really, really thick neck, and all I had was a little, little Exact-O knife ... You're not loving this story.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Jesse, public transport buses, liveries and taxicabs are exempt from child restraint laws.

For people who take taxis a lot, there is this.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

FYI, y'all, apparently ABC isn't rerunning tonight's Grey's tomorrow like they've been doing.

Wait, what? I just cancelled the recording to hit OC instead for once. Crapity.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, you just hold the baby and hope for the best? I mean, that's what I imagined people doing, but I feel like parents in general are a little more paranoid than that. Curious.

I'd ask people at work, but my (crazy) boss is the only one with little kids, and I don't have the two hours to waste talking about how they get the twins around.

My friend in NYC has invited me to bring the kids--their building has one of those chichi rubberized playrooms with an expresso maker for the moms in it. But I honestly don't want to deal with the travel logistics for two toddlers in Manhattan so we're waiting until they are independently mobile to take them on a trip like that.

I think I would take that risk in certain situations--but it would depend on the length of the cab ride and the details of the situation. I'm a lot less paranoid after having Liv so I wouldn't freak out if I had to take them in a cab without car seats.

I can't even imagine lugging two car seats along in addition to all the other child gear it takes just to go to the park.

Well, generally, you don't take a cab to go to the park! You walk with a stroller. Or take the subway, but I think there are enough parks that there should be one close enough to walk to with a little one.

I was raised so pro-seatbelt, I kinda freak when I can't, which is true of most cabs I've taken here. I remember about once a minute that I am not belted and have to stuff it down. Doesn't help that a seatbeltless friend was ejected from a car in high school and broke her neck badly and was in rehab for years (she got back most of her mobility.) And then there was the accident I was in where basically, I'd be daid without the seatbelt. So I'm kinda a seatbelt nazi. I've discovered after the fact that my passengers aren't belted and it freaks me out.

So if you ride with me? Humor me.

Well, that's true. I worded that awkwardly. I meant that it would be a nightmare to add car seats to the gear you already have to lug around for even minor trips out the door.

I still feel like Admiral Byrd at times.

I'm taping the OC, if anyone wants it. It's a crappy multi-taped-over tape, but it's basically clear. I think.

Anyway. I was thinking how funny it is that meeting new people I've "known" for years causes so much post-meet trepidation. OMG, I had TWO glasses of wine. Did I babble? I know I stutter sometimes, did I? Was I a big dork? Do I eat grossly? And then I laugh at myself, cause I had a good time, and really, that's the best guage. There's a freaked out teen that lives in my head and sometimes she starts talking.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

According to the Futon critic, GA will be repeated tomorrow.

Not according to my cable -- two hours of Funniest Home Videos.

Oh yeah, definitely. That's what really got me started thinking about it -- I mean, you don't see people carrying around car seats!
