Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh god, I need to do some cleaning, too. My parents are coming to town on Saturday, and, while they aren't staying with me, they always manage to spend some time in my apartment when they're here.

Like feeding a human with your bosom!

It's very cost effective. Plus also the contented after bonding.

You have looked exceptionally contented lately, David...

What is even happening?

Like feeding a human with your bosom!

Right, and X months from now, Jessica, Kat and lori, and Kalshane will all be talking about their infants, and you'll realize all the other new competences you've developed, too. And like Plei says, it really does come back and then some, really.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Hey, shrift, where are you reading about Chicago gangs?

I started out reading Twenty-First Century V.O.T.E. by Greg Donaldson, which is about the 1994 election campaign of Gator Bradley, a Gangster Disciple who ran for Alderman:

This is The Hole, six 16 story red brick buildings at the north end of the Robert Taylor Housing project on the South Side of Chicago. The structures loom straight and stark. High above, shadowy figures drift behind cyclone fence mesh that drapes the open air walkways. At the foot of the buildings lies a nightmare landscape, rusted green garbage compactors, a ruined playground. Gang land.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Right, and X months from now, Jessica, Kat and lori, and Kalshane will all be talking about their infants

I can't wait until the next batch hatches! It's very exciting.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

FWIW, JZ, I think I'm actually a much better writer now, even if it was almost a year before I really started being able to write again. Not as fast (not as much time), but a lot more focused, and more... hmm. Grounded, perhaps. Adding a nice bit of earthy to my prose, toning the purple down to a muted plum or some such.

For myself, among the reasons I am glad I had my second child is that I am so much less stressed out about everything. My god, I learned something with No. 1!!! (Sorry, No. 1, for screwing so many things up. Have fun in therapy!) (Sorry, No. 2; I'm sure I'll screw something different up with you! Have fun in therapy, too!) (But the two of you do look cute together!)

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I think you need to tell your parent, "I've been working on making, feeding, sustaining, and nurturing your GRANDDAUGHTER. So, little busy these days."

Meh. I mostly feel guilty and miserable about failing my own expectations, not theirs -- I was supposed to be a 1000 word a day writer with a novel and a chapbook and a couple of optioned if not actually produced screenplays under my belt by the time I hit 35, and in actuality I've done about 12 pages of creative writing, total, in the last half-dozen years.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I'm suddenly really glad that my parents live so close to my brother and SIL. My brother works nights, so my SIL has dinner with my parents a few nights a week and my dad plays with my nephew while she runs errands or just passes out on the couch watching movies with my mom.

I want to send my parents to live near JZ, now.
