Ginger Cakes!

I'm doing the first year of what's become a bit of an annual tradition elsewhere: Scots ginger cake for those who request it.

The cake is lovely, dark, moist, spicey and is baked and shipped in individual pans. If I'm covering shipping, I can take about ten requests, because it has to go priority mail (perishable) and that's nearly $4 a pop to send.

However, if you want a cake and are willing to cover the shipping, there's no limit to how many of those I can bake and send.

I have a few spare tickets to Return on the King at The CineramaDome in Hollywood this Saturday at 11:15 PM. We'll be getting together for Dinner/Drinks at the Arclight cafe beforehand. If anyone is interested contact me.

I am looking for someone to write 500-600 words on the subject "The Ten Best Computer Games." Can be online, offline, classics and new. Mac and PC should be covered. Aimed at a nonspecialist audience (Think: your grandma. So maybe lean more towards "Bejeweled" and less towards FPS.) Humor a plus. I can pay $100 (pitiful I know) plus five copies of the eventual book (due to be published much sooner than I'd like). Plus credit in the staff list.

We are soliciting monetary donations in order to purchase copies of the Firefly DVD's for our troops. This effort accomplishes many goals that we can all agree are worthwhile:

1. It will provide entertainment for our soldiers. 2. It will increase sales of the Firefly DVD's. 3. It will increase the fan base, once the recipients see said DVD's! 4. It will give us an opportunity to generate more press for Firefly.

The initial campaign goal is to raise enough funds to purchase 120 copies of the DVD's for dispersal to all USO centers worldwide. Once enough money is raised to accomplish this we can focus on other groups, such as Army personnel stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, aboard Navy ships, etc.

Bay Area-istas...

I will be jetting up to your lovely burg tomorrow evening, where I will have a Christmas celebration with family tomorrow night. Then I will be in town until Sunday afternoonish, which is quite a bit of time to fill, and which I may be able to schedule some Bay-ista time in there somewhere.
