Lorne: Snakes? Uh-huh. And they came out of your what? Okay. Okay, well, did they get up there themselves or is this part of a, you know, a thing? No, I'm not judging...Do we fight snakes? Angel: Only if they're giant. Or demons. Or giant demons. Are they giant demon snakes? Lorne: Well, unless this guy's 30 feet tall, I'm thinking they're of the garden variety.

Mostly lurking...

I just love erinaceous' "anti-yard-sale!" Yup...that's our very own lexicographer.

Just wanted to let everyone know that all of the Emily stuff is gone. Those of you who e-mailed me, you should each be getting e-mail from me shortly letting you know what was available when I got your e-mail. Because I feel badly that everyone isn't going to get everything I asked for, I feel the need to say this. I divvied up all the stuff in order of the e-mails I got...first come, first serve. It's as fair as I could make it. (Note to self: never again start a project like this at midnight of a day you're going to be away from the computer all day...poor people get all excited, and I have to let them down gently.)

Everyone enjoy your stuff!

love's a dream you enter though I shake and shake and shake you

NYC-and-other-tri-state-istas:

Nick Cave is taking part in Celebrate Brooklyn, New York's longest running free music and performing arts festival.

On Saturday 28th June Nick Cave will be performing two or three songs at an evening called CAME SO FAR FOR BEAUTY: AN EVENING OF LEONARD COHEN SONGS UNDER THE STARS. Curated by Hal Willner and co-sponsored by the Canadian Cultural Consulate. All the artists will be interpreting Leonard Cohen songs. Other artists taking part include Laurie Anderson, The Handsome Family, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Linda Thompson, Teddy Thompson, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Perla Batalla, Julie Christensen, Steve Bernstein, Rob Burger, and Marc Ribot.

The show is free, taking place in Prospect Park, and starts tomorrow at 7:30pm.

If you're a Cohen fan, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime event. I'm seriously thinking about driving down for it.

Not javachik

NYCistas: last chance to see my nephew play in your fair city, since he's returning to the left coast to get an MA in music composition.

He'll be playing this Monday night, June 30th with the singer Vanessa Trouble and her band. It's Vanessa's Birthday and his last night in NY, so come out and celebrate with them! They're playing at the Bubble Lounge, located at 228 W. Broadway in Tribeca, from 8pm-midnite. There is no cover. Featuring: Vanessa Trouble, vocals Erik Jekabson, trumpet Keith Ganz, guitar Doug Largent, bass Vito Lescek, drums [link]

If you want, say hi [to Erik] and introduce yourself as a Buffista. He had hoped to meet some of the NYC Buffistas while he was in NYC.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart
