Our wings are not tired.

Hivemind help needed. We will be moving into the new homestead last week of October and since it is a Condo, there are rules. One of the biggee rules is that moving insurance is required listing the condo as "additional certificate holder" covering any damage to the lobby, elevators, etc. that may happen during move in. This is generally something you get from the professional moving company. The thing is, I won't have one of those. Some stuff I will carry back from NY. Some is in storage and the basketball guys will heave ho that for us. Some is new stuff being purchased that will be delivered by various companies. It is not like one big move in by one company. It won't even happen at once since I'll move a minimal amount of stuff until I finish painting.

I haven't been able to locate an insurance policy that an individual could get to cover this kind of thing. They also ask for a refundable $500 deposit for the move in, which again wouldn't happen all at once. If I can't find an official insurance policy I wondered if maybe I could offer to have a bigger deposit that they could hold for a month or however long it takes for the move to be complete. Moving companies can get these policies, but I don't see any for just people who do it themselves.

It is more regulated since they don't have a freight elevator and you have to use the general use elevator from the garage and let them know in advance so they can hang the protective blankets. Only move in daytime M-F before 4:30 PM. Yeah, rules.

Anyway, if anyone knows about any of this stuff please email at profile addy, or speak up in Natter. Much appreciation for your wisdom.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Dearest board, I haven't been here for a long while but I'd still like to do the semi-annually(?)-holidays-announcement/reminder to Buffistas with religious affiliates.

As you know, I live in Jerusalem (the one and only, of Israel/Palestine/whatever you name it), and spend most of my time in it. And I know this board has religious people on it, or people with religious families and friends.

So if any of you of any faith would like something from here - the Old City, or anywhere else - for Christmas or any other occasion, it's really easy for me to get it and send it overseas. Just remember that I will need some guidance and information (most of what I know about Christianity came from popular culture TV). I'm also OK with rubbing objects against graves/approximated graves/holy-ish locations, if that is a thing.

Profile addy is good, because the chances of me keeping up with Natter are not great and I'll be in the Old City on the 30th.

Y'all be good, people. <3

It's getting on toward that holiday/winter card-sending, warm fuzzy card-receiving season...

Who would like to exchange a holiday card or two (or five, or ten) this year?

If you'd like to sign up, please fill out this Google doc by Monday, 11/27 (please use SHIFT+ENTER to create line breaks in the address section):

Simple guidelines posted at the top of the form -- same ones as always.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

If anyone in Canada or Australia is willing to buy me a Barbie sized Luisa doll from Encanto and ship it to me before Christmas, please email me at my profile addy. They don’t appear to make it in the US and I can’t get any of the Australian or Canadian stores to ship it to me. ltc is confident that Santa can get her one.

Update: I should be able to run the match program tonight, so keep an eye on your email tomorrow for your holiday card send-ee info.

hip deep in pie

Hello Buffistas! If any American Buffistas happen to be going out on Record Store Day, and would be willing to help me out. I'm looking for the vinyl release of Prefab Sprout's Steve McQueen. If anyone spies it in their shop, I'll happily cover the price and shipping to me in Canada.

Thanks!
