"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I think it's time again for my sotra-annually-Christmas-announcement/reminder to Buffistas with religious affiliates.

For those of you who don't know: I live between Haifa and Jerusalem, Israel, and spend most of my time in them. I also know this board has religious people on it, or people with religious families and friends.

So if any of you of any faith would like something from here - say, the Old City in Jerusalem, or the interfaith Festival of Festivals in Haifa - for Christmas or any other occasion, it's really easy for me to get it and send it overseas. In fact, I'd love to do this for you, given enough guidance and information (I am and was raised Jewish, and pretty much everything I know about Christianity came from popular culture TV). And yes, I'm OK with rubbing objects against graves/approximated graves/holy locations, if that what turns you on.

Profile addy is good, and again - it's not a hassle. It's a thing I enjoy doing for my friends abroad.

Happy holidays!

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

The Westside German Shepherd Rescue is where we rescued our beloved Kaylee. They are about to lose their home after a benefactor who had promised extended support abandoned them. Anything you can spare to help them as they find new places for the more than 60 dogs in their care would be welcome. Please help, and please spread the word. [link]

Do we have folks in the Mamaroneck area? My friends S & J (also friends with Trudy!) just opened their new comic store there, and the grand opening is tomorrow night. If their store in Northampton is any guide, the new Modern Myths is going to be fantastic!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Next Onerous Task Day, Friday, November 16th (tomorrow!)

Taking Care of Business, baby! TCB!

Cross off those to-do lists.

Get that shit done and enjoy the weekend.

I'm going to throw in three reminders of things which may or may not be onerous, but tend to slip my mind. Feel free to ignore these but I just thought I'd toss these out:

1. Have you flossed lately? Maybe floss your teeth.

2. Have you done anything with your estate planning? If you kicked tomorrow would your nearest and dearest be able to easily and readily resolve your estate? Or cancel your subscription to Bust? Make it easy on your loved ones, even if its just a folder with all the key info.

3. Do you have a creative project that you've let lapse? A fiction that's just short of a rewrite from being great? A knitting project started and left at the bottom of the basket? A promised photo album? Maybe pick that project back up this weekend.

Okay, apologies for the nudging but sometimes I need reminders.

Also - don't let that Groupon go to waste! It's going to run out soon.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Additional Onerous Task Note:

If you're a USian employed by a USian employer, chances are this month is Open Enrollment and it's ending soon. If you haven't already gone over your enrollments and updated what needs updating (as well as review any other deductions and allowances and retirement stuff that may need tweaking), tomorrow would be an excellent day to do so.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My gmail account got hacked last night, which - being the tech savvy people you are - most of you seem to have deduced.

Anyway, please delete those while I try to clean it up at my end.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Hi All - Just wanted to send out a reminder that Jen P, Amy G, and I have the b.org mailing list.

If you would like the address of a buffista on the list, maybe to send a goodie, just contact one of us.

If you would like to add or update your information on the list, again, let one of us know. I know we have a bunch of folks who have moved this year.

The basic information we are maintaining - board name, e-mail, real name, mailing address, birthday (though we are missing this for many), and a confirmation that these details can be shared with other buffistae. We also have space to add any notes.

Swouncing

Slacker Secret Santa: All of you who want to exchange presents with other Buffistas but haven't mailed the nicest about it yet, this is your chance!

Please send your info (board name and snail-mail address) to my profile address until the 10th of December. By then, I'll match you up to pairs of givers and recipients, and let you know which is who.

Even though it's titled with the word "Slacker" in it, you do remember that we voted on a gift-deadline of March, right? It doesn't mean you can't slack, just that there's a limit to it. Hope it's OK.

Your truly, Not-Tiny (yeah, I couldn't wait to this post, we covered just how much not-tiny already) Jewish not-Santa.
