Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I have a horror work in progress, "Deadlands". The first chapter is done. If you want to Beta, contact me. My profile addy is good. Opening paragraph:

Jill pedaled down a Seattle road completely free of cars, expertly maneuvering her bicycle around rag-clad beggars so thin their bones were visible. Spectral carriages flashed above her. Clouds showed faintly through the ornate trimmings and fire-breathing horses as they pulled their loads to destinations across town or across the world. Carthaginians riding war elephants and Germans riding Panzers streaked overhead, enslaved dead traveling to carry out gruesome missions. Jill paid no attention to the sky, or to the blue lights flickering in every window at 7:30 in the morning. All houses were haunted now.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Of interest to most of us, Aisha Tyler's podcast interview with Nathan Fillion.

Skip the first seven minutes where she tries to monetize her website, and then they discuss: How he grew up in Canada (Edmonton), His experience on Soap Operas (One Life to Live), Working with Ryan Reynolds, How to be a starving actor in LA and pay for your rent by juggling credit card debt, Firefly, Joss, How much they are both in love with Alan Tudyk, comic books (in great supernerd detail)...

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Delurking thread is now open! Stop by and say hello! Or tell us what you've been up to this year, even if you're a regular. And make sure to update your pin on the Buffista map if you've moved in the last year.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I thought I'd announce that we're just starting the next play-by-forum game of Battlestar Galactica in the Gaming thread: billytea "Gaming 1: You are likely to be eaten by a grue" Oct 6, 2012 4:30:11 am PDT. This is our sixteenth game. BSG is not only fun to play, it can also be fun to watch. The game includes space battles, deception and betrayal, and allows for some role-playing too. Any lurkers who'd like to watch are very welcome to do so (quite aside from the fact that we couldn't stop you even if we wanted).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hey peeps! In honor of Delurking Month, why not help support the board? As you know, we don't charge anyone to post, but it does cost $99/month to run the board. Whether you're a regular poster or not, if you have any extra funds this month, consider sending some of it my way for board maintenance!

You can paypal to donations at buffistas dot org, or email me (same address or any other, I should get it) for my address to send a check. Note that I moved over the summer, so if you have any earlier address for me, it's wrong now.

Thanks!!
