I'm looking for speaking engagements and interviews based on my new book "Solving the Climate Crisis" which will ship from Praeger Press March 31. I can speak in person for minimal expenses between Seattle and Portland. Closer to Olympia, no cost. Beyond that - let's talk. Phone, Skype and text chat anywhere zero cost to me. The book explains how inequality leads to the Climate Crisis and how public investment and links to large progressive causes including labor, feminism and peace are critical from both a policy and political standpoint. Find out more about the book at [link] . my public email glipow@glipow.com . Profile addy even better.
Hey everyone, I'm pimping Steve Long's kickstarter project for Mythic Hero, which is intended to be a comprehensive encyclopedia of world mythologies for use in role-playing game settings.
Steve's a fellow mythology buff, and has been putting a ton of research into the project, especially for belief systems that don't get much exposure in game materials (like Pre-Columbian, North American Indian, and African cultures, and I've pointed him to resources on Mongolian/Turkic mythology and Patricia Monaghan's Encyclopedia of Goddesses and Heroines for a less patriarchal viewpoint on the subject). For gamers or just mythology/folklore enthusiasts it might be a useful resource and interesting read if it gets off the ground.
Please take a look and see if it's something you'd be interested in helping to support.
Sample and on-line only chapters are now available for my forthcoming book "Solving the Climate Crisis". http://stcc.be/SampleChapters.html
I am going to be in San Francisco next week! I will be accompanying my elderly mom and going on super-hip things like sightseeing tours, though, so no Buffista meet-ups. We are staying at the Comfort Inn on Van Ness. If you have suggestions for dinner places or other things a lady who does not like spicy food and can't walk more than a block, but who does have wide-ranging cultural tastes, might like, fire away in the F2F thread.
Hey SF Peeps - a request from a friend of mine I though I'd pass on.
Hi there, my name is Hope, and I'm a second year physician assistant (PA) student from the University of Toledo. I'll be doing a one month clinical rotation in transgender health at Lyon-Martin Health Services from June 9 – July 5 through Project H.E.A.L.T.H. I'm looking for a place to rent, either a room in an LGBT-friendly house or a small apartment/sublet that is hopefully not too far from Lyon-Martin OR relatively near BART.
A little about me: I'm a native of Ann Arbor, MI, and am a member of Great Oak Cohousing, an intentional community, though I'm temporarily "exiled" in Toledo for school. When I'm not studying for PA school with my cats or hanging out with my sweetie PJ, I play saxophone, ride my motorcycle, enjoy gardening, go to science fiction conventions, and enjoy farmers' markets and other foodie stuff.
If you have any suggestions for her, please email me at my profile addy.
Thanks, ya'll.

HEAR YE, HEAR YE, the Pasadena 2012 F2F will b June 29th-July 1st at the Sheraton Pasadena Hotel: [link]
Our room rate is $109/night for 2 queen beds. You have until a month before the event to book at that rate (if it looks like we are selling out, we have the option to expand; I started with 15 rooms). The hospitality suite is $189 per night; we have that reserved from Friday the 29th through 1PM on Sunday the 1st. I am waiting to hear back about the Prom room, but they have a number of small ballrooms available. ND will, of course, provide the sound system; we should get the event room free if we book an open bar for a couple of hours and some finger foods. More on that in a bit.
Come on over the F2F and let’s talk!
(Could a Stompy update the F2F header, please?)
