Oh ye Buffistas of considerable organizational skill, and perhaps in need of some cash!
I'm trying to find a job in New Orleans. I'm finding it (unsurprisingly) difficult to stay focused on doing what I need to to find a job. I need to update and revamp my resume again, and start networking like a fiend. Right now all I'm doing is checking Craigslist for job postings. My landlady is asking for another year-long lease, starting June 1st, which adds to the urgency. I don't have the financial cushion in place that would allow me to move down there without a job.
I really need someone to stay on my case and keep me focused on this goal. I'd really like to be down in New Orleans by year's end, but sooner works, too! I was thinking of email check-ins, and possibly weekly phone calls or chat sessions.
No idea, really, what one would charge for such a thing. I'm not rolling in cash, but I know my weaknesses and staying focused is a big one. Make an offer!
Firefly watch & post tonight at 5:30pm Board Time (PDT)/8:30pm EDT.
If I'm not muchly mistaken, we'll be watching "Heart of Gold".
Anyone interested in scraps of fabric leftover from my "prom/bridesmaids dresses into napkins and placemats" conversion? I'm happy to send it along and see my childhood live on in your next project.
The tailor used what she could but there's still small pieces that could totally be used for quilting or other projects by people far craftier than me. There's royal blue and raspberry cotton from two Laura Ashley dresses, as well as white cotton with small orange butterfly outlines and blue and white striped fabric from two sundresses my Mom made for me eons ago.
Profile addy is good.
I mentioned this in Natter yesterday, but I'm bring it here: any Buffistas interested in a poster exchange? I have a tube full of posters that can be added to and taken from, much like the box o'yarn that is going around currently, and the famous Buffista nailpolish exchange. I'm sending two of the posters to Kathy A., but there are still plenty in there that may be of interest to you, your friends, children, loved ones, whomever...and you can purge posters that you've collected over the years!
If interested, email me at my profile addy, and I will try to channel my msbelle-style organizing skills and set something up. Thanks!
Someone from my neighborhood makes clothing that I believe many of you may be interested in checking out. I've linked to her Dr. Who stuff before and, now,
Firefly dress
(And there's a shirt available for the gentlemen.)
I know nothing about any of these jobs, but I did notice that GetGlue is hiring.

So my cousin's kid's band is entered to win a chance to play at the Squamish Music Festival. You can check them out and (if you so desire) vote for them here [link]
The family member is the dude on keyboards.
I wrote a Kos diary about Treme 11, here

Firefly Watch&Post reminder: Today at 5:30pm Board Time (PDT)/8:30pm EDT, we will be watching "Objects in Space".
I've mentioned this in Literary briefly, but:
My mom, a retired Bay Area indie bookstore manager, current book reviewer for her former local paper, and eternal voracious reader, has started her own book review blog, Bookin' With Sunny. She doesn’t write high-toned critical studies of what she deems Works of Great Import; she writes pretty much exactly the way she talked to customers when she was a bookseller: This surprised me. I fell for these characters. I got lost in these lives. I loved it, and I think you will, too, and here’s why.
Her publishing rep friends have stayed in touch and are supplying her with new titles and ARCs at a dizzying rate, and now that she’s retired from the bookstore she is racing through her TBR pile and updating the blog with a new review damn near daily. (I am supposed to be contributing too, but my reading pace is painfully slack between the day job, the editing gig and the 4-year-old; I don’t know how to manage it, but I swear I’m gonna turn in at least one review before the end of the week month year if it kills me.)
She’s a great resource for librarians, fellow booksellers, and fellow voracious readers. Read, subscribe, and if you know a deserving but neglected book that more people should know about please let her or me know; suggestions are welcome and eagerly devoured.
Bookin' With Sunny. ‘Cause my mom rocks the review, and maybe someday I'll get my brain and fingers off their asses and start rocking too.
