Well, if we followed the recipe...should be cake. A demon-violence-free-zone cake.

Slacker Secret Santa: All of you who want to exchange presents with other Buffistas but haven't mailed me about it yet, this is your chance!

Please send your info (board name and snail-mail address) to my profile address until the 10th of December. By then, I'll match you up to pairs of givers and recipients, and let you know which is who.

Even though it's titled with the word "Slacker" in it, you do remember that this year we voted on a gift-deadline of March, right? It doesn't mean you can't slack, just that there's a limit to it. Hope it's OK.

Your truly,
Tiny Jewish not-Santa

P.S. All the "regular" Secret Santa notices have now been sent out last week. If you didn't get one, or if there are any other problems, you're of course more than welcome to email me.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

And in the spirit of secretive gift giving, most of the information I have in the database of secrets dates back to 2005 or so. This is your chance to fill out the form for the first time or update it if your tastes have changed.

What I do is keep this in a super-secret location and when someone emails me and asks for information about you, I send it to them. That way you get something you're likely to like, and your giver doesn't have to sweat blood to find it. People use them year 'round for anniversarys and whatnot, but mostly at this time of year.

If you'd like to be included in the database, just copy and paste these questions into an email, answer the ones you want to answer and skip the ones you don't (many people skip some things), add more information if you think I left something out, and then send it to me at my profile address.

Also, if you'd rather buy books from Powell's, we have an affiliate link there as well (also on the links page), and today only use the code SHIPFREE for free shipping.

Thanks!

I'm hosting a showing of Tom Waits rarely screened movie Big Time in San Francisco, on Thursday, December 10th.

Here's the full announcement at the Magic Bus Movie Night website.

It's a relatively small venue, so if any SFBayistas want to attend, you should get there early. They do serve wine, beer and other drinks before the show.

Here are the details:

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Bring on the merriment, bring on the end:

"Goodbye and Good Riddance 2009: So long and thanks for all the fish."

Compassionately intolerant

I have a need...and it's not for speed.

If all the forces of the Universe come together in my favor, I will be launching a grand re-opening of my website/blog next week.

You've heard me say it many times before, I'm dyslexic. I get good feedback on my quite conversational writing style but my brain just will not let me get words in print without errors. It's maddening and, occasionally, humiliating.

I need to do a LOT of writing in the near future both for the site pages and the blog. Ultimately, a lot of this material will end up in my much discussed, yet tragically overdue, book.

Here is the deal.

I need an inexpensive and rigorous editor, with a sense of humor, who will keep me from embarrassing myself in front of the folks to whom I am marketing and offering my services. A little whip cracking would not go amiss.

The current website, which Deena did great work on setting up, is [link]. The new one is rebranded and only slightly different, but will include a blog on the front page that I will need to feed regularly.

If you would be interested in correcting my errors and asking questions like, "Uh. It this what you really meant to say?" please drop me a line at my profile addy to kick off the conversation.

Also, if you are interested in bartering for phone coaching, we can set up an agreement that I guarantee will offer you a tremendous value.

Thanks for thinking about it!

eta: I was going to fix the typo but thought better of it. Best to illustrate how much I need help!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

If you are not on the Somervillian e-mail list and you are going to be in the MA area on New Year's Day, send me an e-mail to my profile address, and I will be sure to invite you to our get together at our place.

Slacker Secret Santas!

You've slacked up until the last day, which is today. If you don't send me any info by midnight, board time, you won't be able to play this year and will have to wait for a whole year in order to be able to join the fun, and, oh, my goodness, I'm turning Santa into a Jewish mommy, so I'll stop now.
