the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

I'm putting this in Press because it (potentially) affects a good handful of Buffistas:

It looks like my old Hotmail address, which I haven't used for personal e-mail in years, has spammed my Hotmail address book. Since I haven't even checked my Hotmail in a couple of weeks (I check it once a month or so, and use it for mailing lists, etc.) -- meaning, I haven't even gone to the Hotmail site and logged in -- I don't know how my address spammed people.

Anyway, I'm *really* sorry about that.

(Stompies, if this is inappropriate here, please delete. And if any of you got spam from me, sorry about that.)

Swouncing

I'm putting this in Press, even though it may look like some shameless advertising, because it's personal.

If this is inappropriate here, then please, stompies, delete away, with my apologies.

So, my very lovely and brilliant sister (and her very lovely and brilliant husband) came up with an appropriately lovely and brilliant idea, their very own online application, making its first baby steps in the world: an internet application which is a virtual fitting room.

All you have to do is upload your own image, and see how different outfits would look on you. No need to fight the weather, annoying salespersons or the crowds at the malls, just in order to see how the clothes look on you. No need to be disappointed when the online-bought clothes look completely different than on page.

You can check this application out on their site, or add this application to your Facebook profile.

Of course, even if you don't upload your own image, you can still find my image under the "Friends' Images" tab (what won't I do for my sister) and even play dress-up with me (what won't I do for my sister, yet again).

I hope you enjoy this! Um, even though it's just the Beta version and in its very early stages. And, of course, lots of thanks!

Um, hey. I'm going to the inauguration, but if someone could burn me a cd of the footage from whatever channel, I'd love to have it to give to my neighbor. I'm not so sure I'm technically adept enough to do it myself.

um, email me at my username.1 at gmail.

Monster.com was hacked: [link]

As is the case with many companies that maintain large databases of information, Monster is the target of illegal attempts to access and extract information from its database. We recently learned our database was illegally accessed and certain contact and account data were taken, including Monster user IDs and passwords, email addresses, names, phone numbers, and some basic demographic data. The information accessed does not include resumes.

I will be in DC area for a wedding in February. I arrive early afternoon on 17 Feb, and depart late afternoon on 22 Feb. I have a list of museums I'll be hitting, and if luck holds out, a White House tour. But it seems the museums aren't open at night. So far, the night of the 19th and 21st are out (wedding stuff). 17th & 18th are wide open. And if you have days available, it's always fun to museum with others. If any DCistas want to get together, drop me a line.

At this time, I am not planning on a car. My hotel is off the red line up in Bethesda (where the wedding will be).

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Last week Jilli helped me with some etiquette pointers for a cruddy little essay I wrote called Skeptic Etiquette, which just got picked up by the mighty Bad Astronomer!

I'm tickled when Phil Plait likes my writing. I'm even more tickled that the piece was Buffistarific.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

I may be trying to write this blog more often. We'll see.

In the meantime:
