If you know anyone who is not registered to vote or anyone who works with unregistered folks, new voters or anyone else who might need some encouragement, please pass along this cool, poignant and instructive video .
It's a bunch of celebrities talking about why you shouldn't vote and then getting serious about why you should. It also includes a quick and simple way to register online...before tomorrow, which is the deadline in some states.
Apologies if this is a link repeated in a thread I haven't read. I found it in a UK paper.
ETA: BEWARE...this video includes significant swearing...cuz you know that is what inspires the cool kids.

The Coastal Conservancy has just published a nicely designed (great photos, really good maps, all current info according to the places I checked that I know) book called, "A Wheelchair Rider's Guide to the San Francisco Bay and the Nearby Coast." I shouldn't be, but I'm boggled at how many places are accessible. Did you know that many state beaches have free beach wheelchairs to loan, with special fat tires for sand? They're meant to be pushed on wet sand. Cool! It's got a lot of info for the adventurous wheelchair user as well as not so adventurous or otherwise mobility-impaired, and includes hostels in the area.
It's free of charge by calling 510.286-1015 or [link] or here, specifically: [link] There's also one for LA and Orange County. Pass the word along.
(Erika, I'm mailing you a copy on Monday.)

It's the West Coast year, so Seattle, Portland, and a more rural/resort-y type of destination have been floated. We're giving it until 6 pm board time this Wednesday for further proposals of locations and date discussions, and then we're making polls and trying to decide things. If you've got ideas, please stop by and let 'em be heard.
I thought I posted this here, but I guess I just posted it in Bitches:

They even have an animation feature of all the polls since June and how the topology changes.
