To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

I've got two fairly large readings in New England in the next couple weeks:

August 9, 2006 The Boston Poetry Slam

The CanTab Lounge
738 Mass. Ave.
Cambridge , MA
7:30 p.m., $3

August 15, 2006 GotPoetry Live

Reflections Cafe
8 Governor Street
(at Wickenden)
Providence , RI
7:30 p.m., $3

And to top it off, the Cambridge reading happens to be on the anniversary of the day Thessaly and I first met. You SO want to be there.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I'm offering this here first before I mess around with ebay:

Attention Spike fans (and soccer fans, Manchester United fans, Bend It Like Beckham fans, Arsenal fans, etc.) I'm offering a pristine, Umbro Manchester United jersey--it's poly/wool, official, Vodafone across the chest, Man U crest on the left breast, short sleeved, red & black, mens' size Large. I bought it in the UK, but it's been worn only on rare occasions. There is a tiny bit of pilling along the seams, but other than that, it looks brand new.

So if you like Man U (or in the case of some fans, wish to burn Beckham in effigy for leaving for Spain) or if you're an Arsenal fan and just want to burn an effigy, I'm selling it for $20 US plus $4 shipping. I paid £42 for it back in '01.

Profile addy is good.

And it's gone.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Bay Area Buffistas!

Do you like theatre? Do you like Greek mythology? Do you like clever and unorthodox updates of Greek mythology?

Then you should go see Release the Kraken, billed as "Clash of the Titans meets Clerks."

Zeus, Aphrodite, Athena and the other Greek Gods on Mount Olympus challenge our hero Perseus to slay the Kraken, the last of the Titan monsters... But wait? Perseus works in a strip mall?

A comedic modern retelling of the Perseus Myth where the good must overcome challenges as the mighty Medusa, the creepy three stygian Witches, two-headed dogs, and overwhelming desires to play XBox or Ultimate Frisbee.

Can our hero Perseus meet the trials given him by the Gods, or will he lose all that a minimum wage clerk holds dear in life?

My friend Dan plays Percy. I'm seeing the show August 18, but you can do your part to support independent theatre (and my friend Dan) any night you wish. You can tell him I sent you.

My friend Alissa recently lost her girlfriend Jamie to a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Jamie loved her 13 cats more than anything, and now Alissa is trying to find homes for them. If you are in the SoCal area and are able to help, please click on the link below to learn about each of the kitties and to get information on fostering or adopting them.

Help Jamie's cats find homes here.

From the website: Anyone who knew Jamie knows that her cats meant the world to her. Her cats were a lifelong commitment, and she was willing to sacrifice anything for their health and well being. Her constant companions, she loved each of them very much.

Her family is not able to continue to support all of her cats. I know that Jamie would want her cats to go to her loved ones. People that she could trust to take care of them with the same lifelong dedication that she did.

All of her cats are litterbox trained, and all of them are fixed with the exception of the new kitten. All of her cats are indoor cats.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Quick query: Some other Teacher 'Ffista was talking a little bit ago about writing lesson plans and selling them.

I'm busting out some pretty awesome lesson plans this year for secondary Language Arts; they're internally and externally aligned to MO's GLE's but I could as easily align them to NCTE standards.

Project-based for most units; writing-intensive and contain worksheet and handouts that cover lower and higher level Bloom's taxonomy questions.

Anyone who has info, please drop me a line at my profile addy.

Thanks!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

We are finally redoing Franny's room and the living room, so if anyone in the LA area wants either a couch (dark green with pillow back) or a double bed, drop me an email and I'll send pics. The couch is fairly new (we bought it about 6 years ago), no rips, etc., just a bit worn. Otherwise, we'll be donating the both of them.

My column on writing, "How to Succeed as a Failing Writer," gets its cranky back with: You Are DOOMED!!!: Face it, technology has turned you into a wuss.

And if you're the sort who likes their crankiness in person, come see me read Tuesday at GotPoetry Live:
