Bayistas, or really any Buffista who's been thinking about relocating:
The IT support guy for my division at UCSF is retiring, leaving everyone here in a blithering panic. If you have or you know someone who has IT experience, especially with at least a nodding acquaintance with both PCs and Macs (and specially especially with getting them to talk to each other), ping me at my profile addy or on AIM and I'll send you the job posting.
Tired of hearing about "COX-2 inhibitors" in the news without having a bloody clue what they are?
Read my article, which, incidentally, is my very first article. Science writing, here I come!
My band's very first CD is now available for sale. Secret Crush Society, Baltimore Chapter
And we're having our cd release celebraztravaganza next Friday, Feb. 4 at the Ottobar in Baltimore . There will be rock, acrobatic burlesque, cake, and a raffle to benefit the Hampden Family Center. They keep the kids off the streets of my neighborhood.
I'm all aflutter about this.
Outgrown baby stuff to give away.

First buffista to email my profile address gets 'em. (Please note the links are to photos of similar things, not the actual items.)
Some of you may remember...about nine months ago I asked for people to fill out a survey about being a Buffista and/or a Bronzer for a school project. Well, I'm finally getting around to writing the paper (I took an incomplete in the class) and was wondering if anyone else wanted to participate in the survey. I haven't made any changes to the survey, so if you've already filled it out, there is no need to respond. But, if you didn't fill it out the first time around, here's your chance to be involved.
For more information, please see my original post: vw bug "Sunnydale Press" Apr 21, 2004 10:13:03 am PDT
Please e-mail me at my profile address, and I will e-mail you the survey. I need to hear from people within the next week.
Thanks so much!
As many of you know, I have recently decided to throw myself headfirst into the world of science writing. To that end, I have started a science writing blog. I hope you find it interesting and entertaining and tell anyone you know who might benefit from it. I'd like to turn it into a veritable credential. It will contain links to my future articles, in addition to my attempts to describe COX-2 as a vampire with a soul.
And perhaps more importantly to some of you, I've broken down and gotten a LiveJournal to promote it. It's a good way to keep up with the blog updates, and besides, Buffistas sure do love their LiveJournals.
Huh. In weird synchronicity, I was just coming over here to announce my new math and science and other related stuff blog
Chicago/Midwest-istas, the Chicagoland Browncoats are hosting another Firefly-themed room party at Capricon (Feb 10-13 in Arlington Heights, IL) this year. Last year our Blue Sun Room won Best Theme Party. This year Capricon's theme is "Mad Scientists" so we doing St. Lucy's Hospital from "Ariel" as our party theme. We're doing a brief pre-party on Friday night, with the main party on Saturday night. Con registration is not required to attend the party, so if anyone wants to swing by room 1204 they're more than welcome to.
If you want to actually attend the Con, pre-reg is $40 for the weekend or $70 at the door. (Single day is $40 at the door).
