Actually, I was thinking it would be sort of like a pet. You know, we could...we could name her Trixie, or Miss Kitty Fantastico, or something.

Mostly lurking...

This will go out to the list as well, but I thought the rest of the board might be interested, and maybe some New Yorkers or others may want to hike up (or down) for it.

Saturday, February 14, 2004 (which I first typed as 2003…duh!) is the Worcester VDay production of The Vagina Monologues...a production where all the proceeds will go to a local Domestic Violence Shelter and Rape Crisis Center. Please see this website (created by our own thessaly) for more information.

Now for my harassing. Nora, thessaly and I all have a monologue in the production (I actually have two! Yes…I’m that crazy). Plus, thessaly and I have been working our ASSES off helping with the organizing of the production. All Somervillians are expected to attend. Yes, that even means Cindy and Ken ;) No more hiding you two! It’s sure to be a fabulously fun night, and the money couldn’t be going to a more worthy cause.

Feel free to e-mail me at my profile address with any questions. Also, Somervillians, look out for an e-mail to the list.

Disclaimer: Of course, if you have a REALLY good excuse, you don't have to attend, but it has to be a REALLY good excuse!

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Attention Seattlistas, or anyone with friends in Seattle looking for a job:

My office is looking for someone to be my maternity leave replacement. It's at least a 6-month position, starting in early March to have some overlap with me, and there's a good chance it'll turn permanent if I decide not to come back. Which is how I'm strongly leaning at present. They're recruiting for a full-time person, and it carries full benefits.

Despite my own problems here, I feel like this could be a great job for someone with more of a team orientation than what I have. Let's face it--I don't exactly Play Well With Others. Also, the fact that when I started this job in 1999 I was on my own, and then had a team kind of built around me as we ramped up development staff for a capital campaign, made it hard for me to adapt, because I liked it so much better when I was on my own and never got used to having to go through more than one person to get stuff done.

The job requires someone who's a strong writer and an all-around responsible, well-organized person, above all. You don't have to be expert with numbers/money, but you're dealing with banking and tax info, so you need to be a responsible record-keeper who can manage high school math on an Excel spreadsheet. College education required, experience in copywriting, PR, development, fundraising, and/or event planning strongly desirable.

If you or a friend is interested, email me and I'll send you the URL for the posting and answer any questions you have.

Attention Chicagoistas, or anyone knowing anyone in Chicago-- my office has put me in charge of a temporary employment drive at a boat show called Strictly Sail Chicago, which will be held at Navy Pier next week. $12/hour, fairly no-brainer work, Monday-Sunday (or, honestly, any of those dates you're available), 8 AM - 8 PM (or hours therein).

If you are interested or know of someone else who would be interested, e-mail me and I will answer any questions-- and possibly kiss your feet.

Aimee suggested I post this here, too.

Okay, if anyone's interested...here it is: The State of George W. Bush Jr.'s...and Only GWB Jr's...Union.

If I only had a brain...

It's that poll again: Would you vote for a presidential candidate who supports same-sex marriage or civil unions?

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Chicago-area Firefly fans-

Just a reminder that there's going to be a Firefly party room at Capricon in Arlington Heights next weekend (Friday, January 30th through Sunday, Feb 1) hosted by the Chicagoland Browncoats from the OB. We're doing a Firefly marathon during the day and then changing over to "The Blue Sun Room" for a party in the evening on Friday and Saturday. You don't have to attend the con to attend the party. We'll be in room 1224. Feel free to stop by and say hi, watch some Firefly or enjoy some of our Blue Sun-themed refreshments.
